Position Description:
-Position on the Weld Engineering Team primarily supporting off-shift production.
-The primary deliverable is providing welding process training and validation for production welders / welding processes.
-Delivers hands-on military grade welding training, instruction and assessments to production welders, field service reps, etc. in on-site or field locations classrooms, production floor and field settings.
-Applies welding skills / experience, including but not limited to, GMAW, GMAW-P, GTAW, SMAW standards utilizing various metal alloys.
-Maintains welding training quality through welder process audits, additional instructions, and/or assessments on the production floor or field.
-Supports welder on-the-job training efforts.
-Provides training / instructions to production employees in Powered Industrial Vehicle Operations and Overhead Crane Operations.
-Supports and contributes to the Welding Engineering Team initiatives, such as: developing / qualifying new welding procedures to AWS and Military welding code requirements; welding vendor services reviews / assessments; welding technology research, development and application studies; welding processes prototype development.
-Support robotic welding equipment programming and troubleshooting.
-Perform product non-conformance evaluation and dispositions.
-Manage safe work practices and maintain safe work environment.
Position Requirements:
-Possess or obtain AWS CWI certification within 6 months of job acceptance.
-Associates / Bachelor's Degree in technical field preferred.
-5 years related experience required; 7+ years preferred.
-US Citizen
-Must be able to obtain/maintain DOD security clearance.
-Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid state-issued motor vehicle driver's license.
-Must be able to obtain/maintain in-plant licenses including but not limited to IVO (powered industrial vehicle operator) and radio-controlled overhead crane.
-Compliance with ASR (Anthropometric Size Requirements) required.
-Demonstration of proficiency in welding & fabrication of large heavy structure weldments utilizing various metal alloys.
-Demonstration of knowledge and skill level with JSMC welding processes - GMAW, GMAW-P, GTAW, SMAW.
-Able to perform problem solving and root cause analysis.
-Excellent written and presentation communications skills.
-Proficient with MS software required and parametric 3D software such as Creo or equivalent highly desired.
-Occasional travel required.
