Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our geoenvironmental and geotechnical practice in the Cincinnati or Cleveland, OH area (working remotely). This position is well-suited for a talented, highly experienced individual who is interested in being a leader and contributing to innovative and challenging projects involving landfills, mines, geohazards, landslide stabilization, brownfields redevelopment, and other water and waste containment systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities




Collaboration and mentoring are cornerstones of Geosyntec's culture. We operate under a sell-manage-do culture, and so we expect that you'd work on challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management. You may also be asked to take on project management responsibilities, along with staff management and development, and mentoring tasks.

Some of the key responsibilities may include:

Civil design, landfill design, and site layout;
Geotechnical and environmental site characterization;
Geotechnical engineering analyses such as slope stability, settlement, bearing capacity, seismic, and seepage;
Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and permit applications;
Manage challenging technical projects while leveraging your existing knowledge and experience to help Geosyntec expand its current practices and capabilities through business development and client management;
Managing and mentoring staff and managing subcontractors;
Overseeing and managing projects and coordinating with other practices and/or offices to facilitate project delivery;
Reviewing and managing written document production;
Strategically pursue new clients and opportunities including preparation of proposals and budgets; and
At times, job may also include fieldwork associated with design and construction services.


Education and Licensure




Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field. (required)
Advanced degree in earth science, environmental engineering or a related field. (preferred)
Professional registration (e.g., P.E., P.G.). (required)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications




At least 8 years directly relevant experience in a consulting environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
Knowledge of relevant geotechnical engineering software (e.g., slope stability). (required)
Knowledge of numerical modeling tools. (preferred)
Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
Experience with project management, business development, and leadership. (preferred)
Excellent leadership skills. (required)
Field work and overnight travel may be required.
Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
