The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery is a top-tier department with world-renowned faculty and staff.
A full time (100% FTE) Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position is available in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery within the Division of Trauma. This successful applicant will work primarily at University of Cincinnati Medical Center (UCMC), and on occasion at West Chester Hospital (WCH). Primary responsibilities will include managing Emergency Department/floor consults and care coordination for orthopedic trauma/fracture inpatients at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Essential Functions
Conduct comprehensive orthopaedic evaluations, including patient history, physical examinations, and the ordering of appropriate diagnostic tests.
Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the Orthopaedic surgical team.
Provide coverage for orthopaedic consults in the emergency department and on the inpatient wards.
Perform minor procedures as needed, ensuring patient safety and optimal outcomes.
Assist in the management of acute orthopaedic conditions, fractures, and post-operative care to include reductions, splint application, traction, and wound management.
Participate in research and quality improvement projects.
Assist in developing and the proper implementation of patient care protocols.
Participate in the education of nurse practitioners, nurse practitioner students and medical students.
Required Education
If Nurse Practitioner:
Master's degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.
If Physician Assistant:
Master's Degree from an Accredited Physician Assistant program.
Required Trainings/Certifications
If Nurse Practitioner:
Active Ohio APRN license with prescriptive authority.
Active Board Certification in appropriate nursing specialty.
If Physician Assistant:
Active Ohio Physician Assistant license with prescriptive authority
Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
Required Experience
If Nurse Practitioner:
Three (3) years nursing experience.
Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.
If Physician Assistant:
Minimum of one (1) year experience.
Additional related work experience may be required depending on specialty/sub-specialty.
Additional Qualifications Considered
Prior experience in orthopaedic surgery or inpatient care.
