Responsibilities




This position is responsible for working directly with internal and external teams, including, but not limited to Legal, Clinical, business development and Patient Accounting to draft, negotiate, assess, and manage behavioral health contracts for Hazelden Betty Ford locations through the west region. The Contract Manager position reports to the Vice President of Payer Relations and must be an experienced negotiator, a subject matter expert in payer contracting for behavioral health. The role is a self-starter, with strong communication and collaboration skills, and have the ability to effectively manage a demanding workload in the execution of multiple concurrent projects across geographic and organizational boundaries.

Responsible for contract negotiations with both current and potential partners. Evaluates key partners/plans for collaboration and value-based contracting and, through engagement with internal leaders, creates and partners with VP of Payer relations on managed care contracting strategy.

Utilizes information from Payer Reimbursement Analyst to understand and communicate financial, quality and payor datasets, modeling of contract terms and performance metrics, and other strategic factors to support successful optimization of health plan agreements.

Monitors and evaluates performance in value-based arrangements. Participates in departmental strategies to ensure success in both FFS and value-based arrangements.

Maintain effective working relationships with key personnel both internal and external to the organization such as third-party payors, internal departments, and other payer entities such as employers or tribal communities.

Identify and recommend opportunities for HBF through value-based contracts, including new and existing agreements.

Design, implement, and lead negotiation strategies for the terms and conditions in all contracting matters with direct reporting to the Vice President of Payer Relations.

Partner with members of Revenue Cycle to optimize reimbursement rates and preferred contract language.


Qualifications




Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business or related field
Minimum 5 Years' experience in the healthcare industry
Experience in behavioral health contracting, negotiating, and contract administration
Knowledge and understanding of accounting/financial implications of contracts
Knowledge of business strategy and contractual requirements sufficient to perform and in-depth evaluation of the financial and technical performance of the contract.
Knowledge of legislation, regulations, and methods used in contracting
Strong written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in business, behavioral health or related field
Working knowledge: Microsoft Visio, and Adobe
Experience presenting complex models to executive leaders
