Dana is a global leader in the supply of highly engineered driveline, sealing, and thermal-management technologies that improve the efficiency and performance of vehicles with both conventional and alternative-energy powertrains. Serving three primary markets - passenger vehicle, commercial truck, and off-highway equipment - Dana provides the world's original-equipment manufacturers and the aftermarket with local product and service support through a network of nearly 100 engineering, manufacturing, and distribution facilities.

Job Purpose

The Quality intern will be given a project to work support in a Malfunction Event Investigation. This will entail defect definition, classification, testing, evaluation, and identification of contributors (s) ultimately leading up to corrective action or corrective recommendations.At the end of the internship, the individual will make a presentation to the Leadership Team with their findings, recommendations and results. They will also report out on their learning and "take-aways" of their time spent with Dana. In many cases, the Quality intern will also be given some normal day-to-day responsibilities in their department. This will allow them to experience the work of a business analyst and assess their interest in Dana.The Quality intern will interact with all levels of staff within the corporation and is expected to build effective relationships with Leaders, internal and external customers, other product groups & functions.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

* Complete a designated project including report out to leadership.
* Complete other tasks as assigned.
* Become part of the team while asking questions and learning Quality at Dana
* Willing to do multiple assignments & rotate through other quality departments.
* Perform process development/documentation of safe manufacturing work instructions.
* Involve and expose to ISO or QS-9000 process
* Support field returns through analyzing of returned parts, identifying wear conditions and failure mode identification using problem solving techniques, testing, and resources available at Dana- both autonomously and via direction of investigation lead.
* Document part condition and failure modes through in-depth individual reports, maintain Dana Return Material Database, Compliant Pro Database, and Customer part return databases.
* Interface with Dana engineering, manufacturing, plants, and external suppliers to communicate issues and drive corrective actions.
* Support AMC lab in continuous improvement and re-organization activities

Qualifications Desired:

* Active pursuit of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering - Specific majors: Mechanical, Manufacturing, Quality.
* GPA must be 3.0 or better.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work with high degree of accuracy.
* Ability to learn and build computer proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word.
* Experience or exposure to Manufacturing or Assembly a plus.
* Proven work experience, strong analytical ability, & excellent mechanical aptitude.
* Strong interpersonal skills to work with people at all levels within and outside Dana in a professional manner and the ability to work in a team environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills.
* Uncompromising judgment towards confidentiality & business ethics.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
