Position Overview

The Certified Mastectomy Fitter (CMF) is a health care professional who is specifically educated and trained in the provision of breast prostheses and post-mastectomy items and services. The CMF is responsible for customer fittings and correct product recommendations.

Nature and Scope

This position greets all customers and provides a quality customer service to all encountered. The CMF performs an assessment of the medical condition of the upper extremities and post-mastectomy surgical outcomes. The Mastectomy Fitter may measure, fit and adjust external breast prostheses, bras and related products appropriate to the conditions presented. Follow up appointments may be necessary to evaluate the fit and function, adjust devices and promote patient compliance with the goal of achieving desired outcomes and service.

Additional DME related functions will also be performed when time permits. Working fax ques, reviewing insurance, obtaining prior authorization, payment counseling, and other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

The Mastectomy Fitter is responsible for providing excellent customer service and compassionate care to all customers at all times.


Greet and interact with customers with a smile and offer assistance remembering the customer always comes first.
Consults with patients to provide education regarding products related to their surgery and/or condition.
Evaluates prosthesis, bras and any other special garments on patients to ensure fit, function and quality.
Maintains proper charting for measurements and calculations.
Obtains physician orders, patient demographics and maintains customer files.
Reviews and verifies insurance policies for accuracy and coverage.
Orders merchandise for clients and performs mastectomy inventory management.
Keeps current on oncology products and offerings.
Carry out all aspects of retail sales including customer service, product knowledge, maintaining inventories and visual merchandising.
Meets with manufacturer sales representatives to determine best product mix and product orders.
Monitors customers to assist the store in loss prevention.
Maintains the appearance of the store, freshness of the products, restocking shelves, cleaning, sweeping, and dusting as needed.
Insure product availability and make sure products are properly priced in a timely manner.
Receive orders while keeping an eye out for conditions of products.
Ensure accuracy in regards to receiving orders and stocking items.
Prepares daily sales deposits and reports.
Work other DME intake duties as needed by leadership.
Any additional duties and/or projects assigned by DME leadership.

Job Requirements


High School diploma or GED required. May require BA/BS.
Required to obtain and maintain ABC/BOC certification in Mastectomy Fitting (CMF).
Minimum of one year experience fitting in Mastectomy products and retail experience.
Knowledge of oncology products.
Ability to provide the highest level of customer service.
Ability to work independently with little supervision.
Possess the ability to follow instructions.
Sensitivity to a diverse population; comfortable working with patients at various stages of treatment and abilities.
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Possess strong computer skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be team oriented, clear communicator and be willing to assist in all areas of a busy retail environment.

Working Conditions:


8:30am-5:00pm M-F or hours required by the job with occasional weekends and off-shifts as necessary.
Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priorities of duties throughout the day
Sitting/standing/moving during working hours

Physical Demands


Should be dexterous and physically fit, as you may have to stand for long periods of time and lift heavy objects.
Required frequently: standing, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching, and ability to left 40lbs.
