Overview




The Early Childhood Mental Health Classroom Consultant is responsible for delivering trauma informed classroom consultation services in Franklin and surrounding Counties (including Nationwide Children's Hospital's regional implementation of OhioMHAS ECMH Consultation Program). Consultants work collaboratively to engage early childhood educators, professionals and families in various early care settings to promote healthy social emotional development and manage challenging behaviors.

The Early Childhood Mental Health Consultant will provide IECMH consultation in partnership with local Child Care Resource & Referral (CCR&R) organizations. This project aims to provide support to high needs providers by pairing an IECMH consultant with a CCR&R technical assistant coach to provide comprehensive consultation and support to meet the needs of those providers, in particular, a heavy focus on Family Child Care (FCC). The consultant will be responsible for implementing services in SDA 12 (Crawford, Marion, Morrow, Richland Counties). Consultants work collaboratively to engage early childhood educators, professionals and families in various early care settings to promote healthy social emotional development and manage challenging behaviors.

Responsibilities




* Provides ECMH classroom consultation and training for early care and education providers and teachers using evidence-based models and strategies
* Facilitates evidenced-based parent education programs
* Participates in data/outcome collection; uses outcomes for quality improvement and planning
* Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations and early childhood programs/systems in conjunction with ECMH Supervisor
* Responds to regional requests to the Ohio preschool expulsion prevention hotline
* Evening and weekend activities, as needed


Qualifications




Education Requirement:
* Bachelor's degree, required.
* Master's degree and experience in school mental health or education, preferred.

Licensure Requirement:
* Ohio licensure preferred (i.e., LSW, LISW, LPC or LPCC).
* Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of auto insurance as required by hospital policy. Must pass motor vehicle background inspection, insurance eligibility, driving qualifications, and training set forth by Nationwide Children's Hospital and maintain qualification of insurance guidelines.

Certifications:
Ohio Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Professional Credential

Skills:
* Knowledge of ECMH; Early learning and childcare, required.
* Creative and effective problem-solving skills.
* Ability to remain persistent and flexible to changes in plans.
* Excellent interpersonal, organization, and presentation skills.

Experience:
* Experience (2 years) in early childhood mental health and childhood development.
* Training/experience in evidence-based models, preferred.
* Experience working in and knowledge of education system and/or behavioral health.
* Experience working across systems is desirable.
* Experience serving at-risk populations and demographically diverse communities, preferred.
* Experience with behavioral principles and/or prevention, education, or behavioral programming. Prior experience with the PAX Good Behavior Game is not required and necessary training to learn the model will be provided.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to bend, twist, squat, kneel, stand, walk, sit, flex and extend neck, grasp, grip, and turn hands. Driving motor vehicle is required. Must be able to lift/carry up to 20lbs and push/pull up to 25lbs. Audible speech and hearing acuity required. Mental demands include problem solving, decision making, and interpreting data. Requires focus and attention to detail, multi-tasking, and performing during stressful situations.
