Overview




The selected candidate would conduct quantitative analyses for data-driven research projects related to healthcare quality, outcomes, and equity using a variety of data sources including healthcare claims, electronic medical records, and national survey data under the guidance of a Research Scientist. Primary responsibilities of this position include: 1) performing data analysis, documentation, management, and quality control; 2) participating in preparation of presentations and manuscripts; 3) in coordination with the principal investigator, acquiring research data through development of data use agreements with clinical and claims data owners, recruitment of research participants, and implementation of questionnaires; 4) maintain compliance with IRB and study training and documentation requirements; and 5) performing miscellaneous related tasks as required.

Responsibilities




PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Supports projects under Dr. Deena Chisolm from generation of study ideas, through collaborative discussion, to research design, implementation, monitoring, and project sustainability or closeout.
Develops analytic protocols that include processes for data acquisition, storage, management, cleaning, analysis, and reporting.
Collects and analyzes data in accordance with appropriate statistical procedures, and prepares reports, inclusive of graphs, tables, and results.
Prepares IRB applications, or sections of IRB applications, for assigned projects.
Maintains compliance with the Institutional Review Board and funding agencies by completing study submissions, amendments/progress reports, continuing reviews and final reports.
Participates in writing of study proposals, grants, and statistical reports.
Co-authors high-quality scientific and scholarly articles for submission and publication in peer-reviewed journals.
Collaborates with Center PIs on project design, implementation, and analysis.
Maintains software licenses, DUAs and other required legal documents.
Participates in multiple work groups and research teams and produces deliverables related to research milestones and product creation.
Prepares results for oral presentations, poster presentations, and/or abstracts and presents the research at national or chapter meetings, etc. as appropriate.
Serves as a resource person for other investigators and as a mentor to less experienced research personnel.
Supervises student interns on specified projects.
Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications




KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

Relevant master's degree (e.g., Public Heath, Health Services Research, Health Administration, Epidemiology, Biostatistics) or B.S and 3 years of experience in a related position required.
Previous experience with data management, data entry and data analysis including expertise using data analytic software needed for large database analysis (e.g., SAS, R/R Studio) required. Experience with healthcare data is a plus.
Familiarity with the U.S. healthcare system (e.g., Medicaid, managed care models) preferred.
Initiative and innovation required with ability to research questions and problems, then document and support conclusions.
Able to work independently and make decisions in conjunction with the PI and Research Scientist.
Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills required to interact effectively with all internal research staff and external collaborators.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to summarize data and generate tables.
Software skills to prepare presentations, announcements, and make tables and figures.
Research Skills, ability to gather information and seek multiple perspectives.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work in teams, relate to people and manage conflict.
Cultural sensitivity and comfort working with a diverse range of socioeconomic, racial and ethnic populations.
Able to maintain strict confidentiality of all personal/health sensitive information.
