Summary:

The Senior Research and Evidence-Based Practice Specialist coordinates Center for Nursing Excellence programs that advance research and evidence-based practice (EBP) integration across multiple settings and sites to improve patient, provider, community, and system outcomes.

Responsibilities:

1. Coordinates, tracks, and reports research and EBP integration across multiple settings and sites.

2. Leads translation of research into EBP to implement or sustain a practice change based on current science, with the intent of improving patient and staff outcomes.

3. Identifies potential research and EBP projects and facilitates completion.

4. Identifies strategies and challenges to translate research findings into sustained clinical practice.

5. Plays an integral role in research and EBP education.

6. Serves as consultant and mentor for developing, implementing, and evaluating evidence for EBP change implementation, evidence-based improvement, outcome management, and research projects (if evidence does not exist to guide change) across the organization.

7. Serves as a resource on applying EBP model for practice changes including dissemination of projects.

8. Actively pursues funding to promote conduct of research and EBP studies.

9. Networks with the internal and external healthcare community to create and maintaining partnerships and collaborations for research and EBP initiatives, including scholar programs, student, and nurse resident experiences.

10. All other duties as assigned.

Technical Expertise

1. Skilled in communicating research and EBP findings to diverse audiences.

2. Ability to develop and deliver research and EBP education and training materials to diverse audiences.

3. Experience in nursing is required; pediatrics is preferred.

4. Experience in professional development is required.

5. Experience writing for peer-reviewed journals and presenting at professional venues is required.

6. Experience developing, conducting, and coordinating single and multi-site research studies is required.

7. Experience in developing and implementing EBP change programs is required.

8. Experience in data collection and management including electronic survey development, database development and management and internet research methodology is required.

9. Experience in advanced technical and grant writing is required.

10. Experience working with all levels within an organization is required.

11. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint or similar software is required.

Education and Experience

1. Education: Master's degree in Nursing is required. Doctorate in Nursing preferred.

2. Certification: Registered Nurse licensure is required. BLS certification is required. Certification in nursing professional development, EBP, and/or research is preferred.

3. Years of relevant experience: 3-5 years leading EBP change projects and/or research and 8 to 10 years of nursing is required.

4. Years of experience supervising: None.
