Overview




The Nationwide Children's Hospital Information Services Department Intern undergoes supervised practical training in their designated field of study. Interns have the opportunity to work with multiple teams within NCH Information Services and are exposed to a broad range of IS technologies and processes. The Intern is responsible for helping with departmental tasks, ad-hoc requests and is actively involved with unit or organization-wide projects. Interns work closely with NCH staff and leaders to conduct research, capture data, attend meetings and develop and implement new processes and initiatives while helping achieve the best outcomes for the hospital.

Schedule:

Hours can be varying between 8:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday

Responsibilities




Provides immediate assistance and problem resolution for customer service incidents or requests in person or via phone.
Operates within a service management system to log, update, dispatch, monitor, and resolve service requests.
Participates in IS-related deployment projects.
Assists in the development and implementation of department quality assurance operations and activities.
Gathers and analyzes data. Runs pre-defined queries and formats reports as appropriate.
Compiles and builds presentation materials to support projects, showcase new initiatives, report data findings, or other related information.
Attends weekly group development sessions and actively participates in all NCH intern events.
Applies strategic, system-level thinking and operational excellence techniques for problem-solving.
Performs some clerical office coordination and administrative tasks as needed.
Collaborates directly with management and provides recommendations to improve department or business unit.


Qualifications




QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

High school diploma or equivalent GED Required.
Candidate must be currently enrolled in and actively pursuing a course of study related to the Information Services Profession.
Education curriculum must be provided by a certified or licensed educational institution.
Exceptional interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills required to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external contacts.
Strong skills in use of PC desktop systems and applications such as Outlook, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to work flexible schedules to meet job requirements.
Familiarity with and desire to learn about computers and mobile devices
Exceptional customer service and communication skills are essential
Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment to meet project goals
Dependable work history, preferably in information services or customer service. Prior experience providing direct customer technical support is a plus.

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Position requires ability to talk, listen and type.
Position requires the ability to interact effectively with customers and information systems personnel across the organization.
Position may require standing for long periods of time.
Traveling to various work areas throughout the hospital and potentially to off site locations.
Position requires ability to lift and move desktop computer equipment and printers.
