Salary: Assoc Dir: $70,000-$75,000; Director: $80,000-$85,000

Miami University’s Communications and Marketing department has been charged with building and maintaining the university’s brand on a local, regional, and national stage. This dynamic and award-winning team is comprised of nearly 70 marketing and communications professionals and is looking to hire an associate director or director of project management

The associate director or director of project management will play a pivotal role in overseeing the strategy, planning, and execution of projects within the communications and marketing department. This role requires a highly organized and collaborative individual with exceptional leadership skills and a proven track record in managing complex projects in a fast-paced environment.

This position has been approved for remote work. Remote work is not a right, it is a work arrangement that can be modified or revoked by Miami University at any time for any reason, including the convenience of the University.

 

Duties:

  • Develop and execute strategic project plans aligned with the communications and marketing objectives, ensuring alignment with overall university goals.
  • Lead a team of project managers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to ensure successful project delivery on time and within budget.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, storytelling, academic marketing, enrollment marketing, and operations to streamline processes and optimize project workflows.
  • Implement best practices and project management methodologies to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality of project deliverables.
  • Manage stakeholder expectations by communicating project timelines, progress, and potential risks, and providing solutions to mitigate these risks.
  • Conduct regular project intake and status meetings, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions to keep projects on track.
  • Oversee resource allocation and budget management to maximize project outcomes.
  • Evaluate project performance metrics, analyze results, and present recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence within the project management team.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate Director of Project Management

○ Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or relevant field

○ Minimum of 5 years of experience in project management within a communications or marketing environment, with 3 years in a leadership or managerial role.

○ The associate director must obtain their Project Management Professional (PMP) certification within 1 year of employment. Miami will provide funding for the coursework and exam. Upon the successful completion of your certification and a satisfactory or higher performance evaluation, the

associate director will be promoted to a director.

 

Director of Project Management

○ Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or relevant field

○ Minimum of 7 years of experience in project management within a communications or marketing environment, with 5 years in a leadership or managerial role.

○ PMP certification

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related field
  • Agile Certified Practitioner (ACP)
  • Experience in higher education

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., Wrike, Asana, Monday).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to manage relationships with stakeholders across departments, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Strong leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams towards common goals.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.
