In this role, Utility Electrician IIwill be responsible for performing duties as a highly skilled electrician in the installation, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of low, medium, and high voltage to 138,000-volt class electrical generation and distribution systems and equipment.This position is located in Columbus, Ohio and reports to theHigh Voltage Supervisor.
The safety of our employees is our number one priority. All employees at ENGIE have both a duty and the authority to STOP WORK if unsafe acts are observed.
What you'll do:
Assist Utility Electrician 3 or High Voltage Electrician with operation, installation, removal, cleaning, inspection, troubleshooting and repair of 15,000 and 138,000-volt class equipment; consisting of underground cable vaults, cable racks, cables, splices, terminations, equipment grounding, surge arresters, switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, motors
Assist with distribution system switching
Direct and perform preventive maintenance and overhaul of electrical equipment in utility plants; may serve as crew leader; instruct lower staff work to be performed
Perform equipment lockout/tagout; uses test equipment (multi-meter, megaohm meter, hi-pot) to remedy and prevent problems
Overhaul motors and replace bearings; operate cranes and/or lift vehicles to move electrical equipment
Maintain substation battery banks, wiring systems, interlock equipment, 3-phase meters and circuit protective relays
Read blueprints, electrical diagrams, technical manuals; update drawings and schematics
Create sketches, modification plans and layouts
Help design circuits and read wiring diagrams to specify replacement parts
Maintain records and reports, perform other related duties
Direct and inspect contractors in the installation of permanent and temporary power sources,
Inspect and monitor new electrical construction work for design standard and electrical safety acquirements
Plan jobs, specify materials, inspect and diagnose cable and equipment faults; troubleshoots electrical units by reviewing blueprints and schematics in order to develop remedy
Assist in training other personnel of a lower classification
Other duties as assigned
What you bring:
High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum 10 years work experience as a commercial/ industrial electrician.
3 years of experience & ability to install and maintain troubleshoot/repair 5000 & 15000-volt class electrical systems.
Knowledge of basic principles of electricity and related terminology; ability to read technical manuals, schematic wiring diagrams and volt-ohm-amp testers.
Computer literacy
Valid Ohio Driver's License required
Commercial driver's license or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
On call rotation

Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate
The position may expose the employee to weather conditions
Ability to follow safe work and personal protective equipment policies
Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to use a company computer, calculator
Ability to lift and carry without restriction

Salary Range: $51,595 - $118,300 USD, annually
Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
