The intern/co-op will be assigned a mentor (Research Scientist or similar) and assigned at least one 'real-world' project related to graphite material science to complete during their assignment.

Description of Responsibilities:

Operate test equipment safely and proficiently and conduct testing as required by research needs and customer requirements
Perform testing, experimentation, and validation to support product design and development, working independently.
Discusses unusual phenomena and expresses opinions to mentor. Utilizes innovative approaches to solve problems. Develops new techniques and procedures.
Maintains laboratory notebook (or computer files), including equipment and conditions used, specific details concerning experiments, observations, results obtained, conclusions, etc.
Contribute to design solution activity through utilization of previously learned skills with design of experiments, simulation tools, fundamental engineering principles, and experienced mentorship from seasoned Team Engineers
Communicates effectively, orally or in writing with a variety of professionals, peers, and service providers. Gives oral presentations concerning research activities as requested.

Qualifications:

Must be legally authorized to work in United States without sponsorship for employment visa status
Good communication skills, orally and writing. Good presentation skills.
Proficient in computer software applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Must be pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or PD.D. Degree in a science field
Self-starter having inquisitive skill and desire to learn new skills.
Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail work.
Ability to work 32-40 hours per week throughout assignment period

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a laboratory and/or production environment, including lifting, standing for long periods of time, squatting, and kneeling. Some work will require wearing personal protective equipment.

Monday through Friday
8 hours per day starting between 7am and 9am
