Job Description: Commercial Roofing Laborer

Position Overview: As a Commercial Roofing Laborer, you will play a crucial role in assisting roofers in the installation, repair, and maintenance of commercial roofing systems. You will work under the supervision of experienced roofers to ensure that projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assist with Material Handling: Transport roofing materials, tools, and equipment to and from the work area. Load and unload materials from trucks.
2. Prepare Worksite: Set up and take down safety equipment, scaffolding, and ladders. Ensure the work area is clean and organized.
3. Support Installation: Assist roofers with laying, positioning, and securing roofing materials such as shingles, tiles, and metal sheets.
4. Operate Tools: Properly use hand and power tools such as hammers, drills, saws, and nail guns as directed by experienced roofers.
5. Follow Safety Protocols: Always adhere to safety guidelines and regulations. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety glasses, and harnesses.
6. Perform Minor Repairs: Assist in repairing or replacing damaged roofing materials. Seal leaks and cracks under the guidance of experienced roofers.
7. Maintain Equipment: Clean and maintain tools and equipment. Report any malfunctions or damage to supervisors.
8. Communicate Effectively: Follow instructions from supervisors and communicate any concerns or issues promptly.
   
   

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in construction or roofing preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work at heights.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to learn.
• Basic math and measurement skills.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team.

• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
• Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.
• Stamina to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Roof Installation: Install various types of commercial roofing systems including built-up roofing, single-ply membranes, modified bitumen, metal roofing, and shingles.
2. Surface Preparation: Prepare roof surfaces by removing old roofing materials, cleaning, and repairing substrates as necessary.
3. Material Handling: Coordinate the delivery and storage of roofing materials. Organize and distribute materials to the work area.
4. Roof Repair: Identify and repair damaged or leaking areas of commercial roofs. Replace or repair defective roofing materials.
5. Operate Equipment: Use hand and power tools, as well as roofing equipment such as air compressors, welding machines, and hoists, safely and effectively.
6. Quality Control: Ensure that roofing installations meet manufacturer specifications, building codes, and industry standards.
7. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations. Conduct regular safety inspections and maintain a safe work environment.
8. Team Collaboration: Work closely with other roofers, laborers, and supervisors to complete projects on time and within budget.
   
   

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial roofing.
• Knowledge of various roofing materials, techniques, and systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and technical drawings.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects (up to 75 pounds).
• Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.
• Stamina to perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.
• Agility and balance to work on sloped surfaces and maneuver around obstacles.
