Job Description

The Millwright is responsible for installing, assembling, and, when necessary, dismantling machinery, conveyor systems, pulleys, mechanical clutches, gear boxes, hydraulic and pneumatic control systems. The Millwright will transport and locate machines and equipment to the desired location according to
floor plans, or as directed using fork lifts, hoists, winches, cranes and other equipment. Assemble machines or equipment from their component parts. The Millwright must understand how a machine functions to assemble and disassemble it properly. This may involve knowledge of electronics, pneumatics, and computer systems. The Millwright will use complex instruction books that detail the assembly of the machinery and use tools such as levels, welding machines, and hydraulic torque wrenches. The Millwright will also use micrometers and other precision measuring devices to achieve the extreme tolerances required. On large projects, the use of cranes is common. Work requires practical skill and knowledge and journey-level skill as a millwright. Candidate must be able to perform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task.

Basic Qualifications:


High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Minimum of 4 years of combined experience and training similar to that required in a bona fide apprenticeship program as a Millwright; or a U.S. Department of Labor Completion of Apprenticeship Certificate as a Millwright; or eight (8) years of documented Millwright experience; or five (5) years of documented Millwright experience and three (3) years in a related trade
Ability, with or without reasonable accommodation, to work any shift and work overtime, including daily, weekends and holidays as required
Experience as a millwright in a manufacturing environment
Ability to work from layout plans, blueprints, drawings or other specifications to determine work procedures
Ability and knowledge to dismantle machines, using hammers, wrenches, crowbars and other hand tools
Ability and knowledge in welding including arc, acetylene and hydrogen
Ability to properly move machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers and trucks Ability and knowledge to properly use tools and equipment such as drill presses, power saws, chain falls, jacks, skids, slings, burning torches, and other types of portable and hand tools
Ability to clean, lubricate, or adjust parts, equipment, or machinery
Perform incidental tasks as required to complete the larger task Knowledge of Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:


Ability to provide mechanical support to manufacturing operations to locate and diagnose trouble in mechanical systems or equipment
Ability to complete required preventive maintenance at defined intervals on all mechanical equipment
Ability to perform tasks historically assigned to other mechanical classifications (i.e., pipefitter, machine repair)
Perform other duties as required to meet the needs of the department and company
Strong computer skills
Experience with computerized maintenance management systems
Knowledge of G-Suite
