Job Description

The IT Director, Portfolio & Operations Management will be focused on maximizing business value within Digital Technology for enterprise-delivered services. They will be responsible for the process of portfolio and program management for enterprise-spanning teams, in alignment for Digital Technology's EPMO as the governing body. This individual will drive relationships across the enterprise to facilitate communication for the Architecture, Experience, Digital Platform Services and Data Technology (AEDPS) organizations. They will identify ways to enhance teamwork across the AEDPS teams and related integrations into other Digital Technology Teams at large. They will work to drive the adoption of the Agile mentality through Lean Portfolio Management. Supporting the AEDPS leadership team, they will assist in the determination and prioritization of strategies, track KPIs / OKRs, and assist with both measuring and reporting out on progress of the teams.

Essential Functions


Partner with IT and Business leaders to develop and maintain the strategic product /initiative portfolio plan focused on value creation for the business and what is best for Sherwin Williams
Management of work intake from developing a proposal to bringing it to a governance board for go/no-go decision
Work with EPMO on a governance structure to evaluate, authorize and monitor initiatives as they pass through the EPMO life cycle
Work with the EPMO to identify value streams and bring standard methodologies into the organization.
Partner closely with other leaders to establish lean agile routines and practices that transforms the organization to run agile at scale
Owns the process of evaluating initiatives value to assignment of talent to the most important initiatives and start work at the appropriate time
Optimize portfolio to identify the optimal grouping of work that maximizes the risk adjusted portfolio value at a given budgetary level
Creates and maintains the process to optimize the sequencing and timing of approved initiatives based on resource constraints and dependencies
Resource capacity planning within the portfolio
Provides portfolio risk management to assess the risk nature of initiatives and manage portfolio level risks
Responsibility for communication across all aspects of the portfolio
Establishes and maintains portfolio reporting and analytics to report against the value and progress within the portfolio
Owns portfolio value management to evaluate, measure and track initiative benefits at the portfolio and program level
Tracking/Monitoring of initiatives to measure and track health and performance
Responsibilities for managing and developing workforce, talent and culture
Oversee an early-talent team who will support areas within AEDPS, developing and mentoring the manager and individual contributors for success
Engages with key business and IT leadership to drive process standardization and change management.
Deliver enterprise-level standard support type processes
Create reports and executive presentations to convey departmental results. Effectively communicate information broadly to varying audiences as a key spokesperson
Identify areas of opportunity, establish policies and procedures to enhance the overall operations of AEDPS
Advise and consistently strive for excellence through application of industry best practices (including Agile, SDLC) and contribute to continuous improvement in close partnership with other IT functions

Formal Education & Certification


Bachelor's Degree (or foreign equivalent) or in lieu of a degree, at least 12 years in experience in the field of Information Technology or Business (work experience or a combination of education and work experience in the field of Information Technology or Business).
Agile certification, preferred
SAFe certification (LPM), preferred

Knowledge & Experience


12+ years IT or business experience
8+ years of experience managing direct reports
5+ years of experience in program management
5+ years of portfolio management experience, preferred
Experience leading large programs, including establishing effective governance structures, cross functional coordination, and executive stakeholder management and reporting
Experience working with Agile / Scrum methodologies, experience using JIRA preferred
Experience reviewing, identifying and implementing operations efficiencies / SOPs to optimize operations
Experience helping companies define and measure value realization

Physical Activities/Capabilities/Work Environment


Sit for extended periods of time; walk and stand occasionally.
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and to handle other computer components constantly.
Lift and transport moderately heavy objects, such as computers, devices, and peripherals occasionally.
Work environment involves everyday risk or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting, and training rooms, i.e., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations.
Work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated.
Up to 25% travel as required (domestic and international)
Work outside the standard office 7.5-hour workday may be required.

This position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H1-B visa.

This position works in the office three days a week and is eligible to work remotely two days a week.
