This position can be fully remote within our 10-state footprint - Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin, Florida, Texas, Kansas, Louisiana, or Kentucky.

First Merchants Bank is seeking a Senior Digital Capabilities Manager to join our team! This position will support the creation, development, launch and management of digital capabilities. Serve as subject matter expert and resource for digital product information. Work with line of business executives to develop and present the strategic direction and execute through contributing digital product and marketing strategies. Work within multiple technology delivery processes (Agile, Waterfall) and serve as the final authority for decisions regarding priority, business value and functionality for work done by the development teams. Set goals and desired objectives of the strategies.

As part of this role you will:


Responsible for measurement and analysis of P&L performance for a select suite of digital capabilities and associated products.


Define and recommend changes to Senior and Executive Management, Marketing, Sales, Operations, and IT to deliver change to grow both unit and net income growth.

Manage the digital capability/product roadmap and life cycle for assigned digital capability/product group, including but not limited to ROI analysis, conduct market research, define market targets, product position, business case validation, IT feasibility, devise and execute launch plans to:


Increase revenues, decrease costs, and extend relationship life.
Contribute to overall "brand" and differentiation.
Develop targeted segment strategies including product positioning and opportunistic pricing packages.
Balance suite of available products and services to manage opportunity, shelf space, and implementation resources.
Recommendations to improve the customer experience.
Recommendations on process enhancements.

Work closely with bank regions and lines of business to achieve common goals and provide basic knowledge. Support sales with training guides, ad-hoc requests for large clients, and marketplace information.
Provide coaching and leadership to other partners and digital team members, product managers, and analysts in the Consumer Bank.
Facilitate great working relationships with clients, peers inside and outside of the organization, and with sales through routine visits, presentations, and communications.
Participate and support bank integration and consolidation initiatives.
Identify targeted customer and segmented non-customer opportunities, examples to include, focus groups and surveys.
Serve as the product expert for support and information. Remain current on industry products and developments to identify future needs.
Stay appraised of industry regulations. Seek counsel from partners in Internal Audit and Compliance to assess the risk of new and ongoing product initiatives. Present recommendations aligned with the strategic objectives, ethics, and risk tolerance of the organization.
Develop and manage vendor relationships. Partner with procurement for appropriate contract review and vendor management practices.
Develop and communicate a unified company strategy for the digital and mobile channels. Recommend implementation roadmap to support strategy.
Support IT with managing external vendor relationships associated with delivery and support of digital bank products.
Collaborate with marketing and line of business (LOB) leaders to develop and deliver campaigns to increase awareness and familiarity with digital products among various client segments.
Develop business cases, ROI analysis and expectations, success criteria and business requirements for new digital banking products.
Create, maintain, prioritize, and sequence the product backlog based on business value or ROI.
Assist with prioritization and resolution of defects/bugs on deployed capabilities.

To be successful in this position, we require the following:


Bachelor's degree in finance, product, marketing, business, or related field of study OR an Associate Degree/ Two years of College + Two (2) years of related work/military experience OR four (4) years of related work/military experience (plus any additional required experience.
A minimum of five (5) years' experience in data analysis processes, tools, techniques, and knowledge of developing value management methods and tools.
Experience with agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures.
