Job Description

As a Color Technologist, you will formulate new colors and adjust existing colors, using applicable digital color tools for the Automotive OEM customers. Individual contributor on projects with guidance from a group or project leader.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Follow all PPG safety protocols and in a laboratory work environment
  • Operate electronic, mechanical or hand operated laboratory equipment; use knowledge of coatings techniques (equipment, batch making, paint application etc).
  • Prepare, test, adjust paint samples; learn methodology and art of color formulation and paint application.
  • Contribute in a team environment, collaborate and seek out knowledge.
  • Apply knowledge of chemistry, mathematical calculations, and color science to develop products with guidance from group or project leader.
  • Coordinate conducting and evaluating experiments.
  • Color matching new colors with the ability to match in multiple technologies.
  • Knowledgeable in color equipment and instrumentation. Proficient understanding of reflectance curves, color tolerances, light sources, and metamerism.
  • Willingness to develop and support standard process will be critical for success.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in in science or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • 3+ years' experience in laboratory work, and knowledge of visual color and color measurement technology
  • Pass color blindness test
  • Communicate data documentation and analysis of results.
