Job Description

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

Leads, develops, and establishes overall product stewardship strategy and broad deliverables and activities for all Performance Coatings Group (PCG) global business groups, including managing relationships with the businesses internally as well as with external parties, providing leadership and strategic vision, allocating budgets and resources, and managing talent within the organization.

Oversees strategic implementation of all product stewardship for PCG businesses including multiple core processes with global impact. Provides PCG businesses and their industrial customers unique, required, and focused technical and regulatory expertise. Collaborates and coordinates with respective Packaging Division regulatory team as warranted.

Acts independently and is guided by very broad objectives. Partners with cross-functional leadership to lead, develop, and ensure execution of product stewardship strategy and broader deliverables to support the overall business strategy and operations. Consults and cooperates specifically with Legal advisors and Government Affairs team as business proponent.

Drives strategic relationships with direct collaboration with senior leadership and cross-functional teams. Coordinates activities globally through direct and indirect reports and has strong matrix management responsibilities. Operates as an active member of a PCG global business group leadership teams.

Supervises managers and advisors within the function.

ESTABLISH INTERNAL/EXTERNAL STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP


Leads and directs development of the organizational strategy plans intended to achieve regulatory compliance and to meet business objectives in the large global markets in which it competes.
Enables and influences internal and external connections to lead strategic and long-term partnerships; establishes strategic alignment among executive management stakeholders to focus on desired outcomes.
Partners broadly internally and with external parties to ensure that business leadership is satisfied or that issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Applies extensive knowledge of regulatory landscape to enhance key strategic relationships within business and takes responsibility for complying with all potentially applicable laws and regulations.

ANTICIPATE, ANALYZE, AND INTERPRET REGULATORY CHANGES


Fills a top-level advisory role to business leadership on a comprehensive range of issues; defines, leads by example, and establishes an organization that uses a variety of complex resources to stay ahead of regulatory developments on a global scale.
Collaborates with and influences executive business and functional leaders so that they anticipate, identify, and assess emerging trends in regulations and best practices and benefit from the insights provided by the product stewardship organization; as a result, PCG businesses achieve high-level goals and improve high-impact customer relationships.
Benchmarks company practices to other organizations and to the industry to identify and proactively address improvement opportunities; is aware of what is required to successfully operate globally as it applies to the PCG businesses.
Drives necessary strategies to ensure compliance with all laws, regulations, and company policies and provides leadership to establish those procedures and tools to help proactively direct ongoing compliance process.

RISK ASSESSMENT & SOLUTION/OPPORTUNITY IDENTIFICATION


Defines and directs product stewardship programs to accomplish long-term goals; provides direct oversight to ongoing initiatives involving analysis, assessment, evaluation, and auditing of highly critical information.
Shares vital expertise with executive stakeholders to respond to and anticipate complex questions and concerns. Answers questions across all areas of product stewardship.
Serves as the final contact for regulatory inquiries from federal and/or public regulators; presents policies to show proactive compliance with statutory requirements.
Assumes ultimate responsibility for establishing valid and compliant processes for qualification and certification in global markets where PCG conducts business.
Responsibilities may include project management, to include managing significant aspects of large-scale, highly visible, or highly complex projects, from start to finish; may contribute to design, communication, and implementation of operational plan for projects.

TALENT MANAGEMENT


Leads, develops, and establishes globally integrated approaches to talent acquisition and talent management that produce a high-quality global product stewardship leadership and professional team to ensure the achievement of an optimum level of workforce engagement.
Identifies critical skills and knowledge necessary for job performance; recognizes top performers from all levels of the organization and identifies and removes barriers to high performance.
Delivers, completes, and oversees performance management process in a timely fashion, including succession planning, reviews, development planning, and actively leading performance calibration according to business and technical competencies.
Coaches and develops the product stewardship management team across the function; identifies skill gaps, creates development plans, provides feedback, and addresses performance issues proactively.

RESOURCE ALLOCATION & BUDGET MANAGEMENT


Anticipates and creates plans for workforce needs during the strategic plan period; designs and develops workforce planning and staffing.
Directs cross-functional and external resources (such as consultants and contractors) to build knowledge and capabilities well beyond current expertise and/or scope; retains responsibility for resource output and optimization for PCG global businesses.
