Ability to organize and prioritize all release of information requests for Specialist and Technicians in this team.

Outstanding communication skills necessary in order to talk with patients, vendors, insurance companies, attorneys, judges, auditors, etc who may be requesting information on our patients. Must have excellent phone skills and etiquette.

Represents the hospital in court when records are requested.

Strict confidentiality, security and integrity of all patient data and information is maintained.

Must keep abreast of any changes in rules or regulations involving state and federal laws governing Birth Certificate processing and patient privacy and confidentiality regulations.High School Graduate required, Associate Degree preferred. | Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred, (or RHIT eligible). | 2 years experience in a Health Information Services area working with release of information.Demonstrated competence with clinical applications for health record processing. Proficiently navigates through the clinical applications to identify patient demographics, provide patient information to appropriate requestors in timely manner and verifies the accuracy of the demographic information.

Responsible for the confidentiality and security of all patient health records for the hospital. Understands all rules and regulations regarding the proper release of patient information. Keep up to date on any changes with rules and regulations associated with patient confidentiality and privacy.

Keeps up with any changes in Birth Certificate processing or Paternity Enhancement requirements for affidavits involved with the Birth Certificate process.

Must be able to take intiative to organize/direct staff with mailouts, requests, or subpeonas to meet requirements. Delegation within the team to help with meeting timelines is essential. Teamwork is essential.

Excellent customer services skills and excellent communication skills for handling all release of information requests received by our patients, insurance companies or other entities.

Knowledgeable of RAC processing and responsible for assisting in providing copies of charts for all RAC requests in an accurate, complete and timely manner.

Must be knowledgeable in the use of software applications for release of information and birth certificate processing as well as general office equipment such as; fax machines, copiers, printers, computers, pagers, etc.

Must be able to work as part of a team in order to complete all necessary tasks associated with the requests for information we receive. Ability to manage workflow management for release of information staff.

Should display leadership qualities and take initiative to help direct this team to complete all tasks in a timely manner as well as manage phone requests for patient information.Demonstrated competence with clinical applications for health record processing.
