Responsibilities




The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care within the scope of practice in the Out Patient Services setting. The Registered Nurse communicates with physicians, / Director of Nursing, House Supervisor and co-workers, as appropriate about changes in the patient's clinical condition including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. The Registered Nurse is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment. The cardiology Registered Nurse under the supervision of the Cardiologist will perform all aspects of Electrocardiography including; the applications of Holter monitors, event recorders, EKGs, stress testing and echo stress testing in accordance with professional standards and departmental policies. The cardiology nurse will be responsible to educate patients and families. The Cardiology nurse provides coverage in the Cardiac Rehab department as needed. The Registered Nurse coordinates the care of the patient with the procedural physician, directs and guides and other personnel while maintaining standards of care within the Out Patient Department. Works with other departments and co-workers to provide quality patient care across the continuum, efficient patient flow and unit maintenance and organization. Responsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures. Responsible for participation in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services. Acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.


Qualifications




Education and Work

1. Current and valid state RN License.
2. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. ACLS 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
4. PALS, preferred.
5. Previous acute care hospital experience; required.
6. Moderate Sedation competency completed within 30 days upon hire.
7. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
8. Previous Critical Care or Telemetry experience with ability to interpret cardiac rhythms required.
