Job Description

Wyandot County Department of Job and Family Services is hiring for the position of Custodial Worker.  This is a part-time permanent position with a pay rate ranging from $15.00-$17.91 per hour plus longevity.

Essential Functions of the Position:
Performs janitorial duties for agency: vacuums carpet & furniture, sweeps & mops floors and stairwells; dusts, cleans, & sanitizes (e.g. furniture, fixtures, tables, chairs, drinking fountains, drains, microwave, refrigerator, coffee pots, cubicle areas & dividers, mini blinds, walls, closets, restrooms); checks carpet & furniture for stains & takes steps to remove stains; washes interior of window & door glass; removes trash; stocks restrooms and kitchen with necessary supplies (e.g. toilet paper, paper towels, soap).  Adheres to all safety rules & regulations to safeguard self & others.  Checks exit signs, fire extinguishers, security system, fire panel, elevator, telephones, automatic door, drain flushers, sprinkler system, backflow devices, etc. Maintains recycling program.  Performs laundry duties.  Wears proper safety gear. Respects agency and client confidentiality principles.  Exhibits regular and predictable attendance.  Conducts self in a professional manner at all times. 

Maintains agency vehicles (e.g. washes & cleans interior and exterior, monitors fuel & washer fluid).  Notifies supervisor of building repairs needed.  Inventories and purchases cleaning supplies.

Attends meetings and trainings.  Completes any/all assignments as directed by supervisor/administrator.  Performs all other miscellaneous tasks associated with the duties of the custodial worker.  Performs all other job-related duties as assigned.

Knowledge of: Cleaning and janitorial functions, safety practices, inventory control, safety practices, agency policy & procedures (personnel*), complete routine forms.  Skills in: Performing physical labor, equipment operations.  Ability to: Read directions,  carry out simple instructions, deal with problems involving few variables in familiar context, apply principles to solve practical, everyday problems, recognize safety warnings, work alone on most tasks.
