This position is remote, but the candidate will need to be located in California.

About the Role:

The Aviation Program Director is forward-looking, collaborative, and will expand Woolpert's footprint as an industry leader in California within the aviation planning and design solutions niche. Success will be measured by your ability to develop, lead, and manage profitable growth through meaningful client relationships.

Working with market and discipline leaders, and other Woolpert subject matter experts, you will devise execute and manage strategic planning, marketing, client/business development, capture planning activities, and project deliverables in this aviation market service area. You will also be supporting and promoting other markets and practices of Woolpert in the market area to assist their growth.


Responsibilities




Collaborate closely with the Aviation Market Director and dedicated aviation staff in California to deliver goals.
Lead the business growth of key aviation planning and design (horizontal and vertical) services by developing a pipeline of new and existing business/contract opportunities throughout California.
Drive partnerships with other consultants in the aviation industry to win and perform projects.
Guide growth of the practice based on emerging trends, technologies, policies, and available funding sources that build on our existing reputation and relationships.
Maintain a thought-leader/Subject Matter Expert profile in the industry by providing industry leading customer service to existing and potential clients.
Guide the appropriate level of collaboration between Project Managers and the cross-functional technical (discipline) teams.
Manage, monitor, and forecast metrics including Backlog, Profit and Loss, Sales, Net Revenue, Utilization, Continuing Education, and Non-Billable Travel and Expenses for the Practice.
Lead and support where appropriate all shortlist presentations for prospective clients and participate in contract negotiations with clients.
Provide quality reviews of project documentation including work plans thru final deliverables.


Qualifications




Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
Minimum of 10+ years of related work experience leading and developing Statewide Transportation Systems, Planning and Design projects, preferably within the Aviation.
Hold a current Professional Engineering licenses in California.
Aviation or Airfield Planning/Design Subject Matter Expertise in one or more areas of existing and emerging design and construction solutions which include: Airfield, Vertical, Airport Layout Plans, Master Plans, instrument approaches, site civil grading drainage and utilities, pavements, airfield lighting and navigational aids, facility planning studies and site development.
Thorough knowledge and understanding of FAA Planning and Design Advisory Circulars, Local California Government Code, California City/County Governance and budgeting.
Experience with public-private partnerships, Geographic Information Systems, and Asset Management desired but not required.
Demonstrated ability to organize and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.
Strong overarching business acumen required, including Microsoft Office products.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in a dynamic environment.
Quickly adapt and respond to industry changes as well as internal initiatives.

Travel Requirements:

Must be able to travel 50% to clients, conferences and other Woolpert offices.

Salary starts at $135,000 annually and increases depending on experience.
