Job Description
Adult Education Instructor
Location:
Richland, Ashland, and/or Crawford Counties
Anticipated Adult Education positions are open for the 2023-2024 school year. These are part-time teaching positions during the daytime and/or evening hours anywhere from 10 to 29.5 hours per week at $24.98 per hour. This is a part-time position therefore there are no benefits available.
Position Summary:
Instructors will be responsible for:
Conducting their own orientation
Administer the TABE Online pre and post testing
Must be organized by managing paperwork, data, and keeping up with deadlines.
Building a positive rapport with their students and following up with students that aren’t attending class regularly.
Demonstrate good communication skills.
Creating contextualized lesson plans aligned to the college and career readiness standards that overlap with both GED and WorkKeys curriculum.
Comfortable with teaching all four tested areas of the GED test (Reading Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies).
Developing employability skills with their students that are needed to enter the workforce and for job advancement.
All job duties will require the use of technology. Applicants must have digital literacy skills and adapt to new technology quickly. Experience with Google Classroom including the Google Workspace is a plus.
Be flexible with program changes.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree. Experience in adult education is a plus. Candidates will be responsible for the cost of their BCI/FBI background check (if it has been longer than 365 days since your last check), drug screen, and TB test. Also, candidates that do not have a current teaching license, but have any bachelor’s degree will need to cover the cost of their Adult Educators License through the Ohio Department of Education.
Working Conditions:
Exposure to the following conditions may range from remote to frequent based on circumstances and factors that may not be predictable:
Potential for exposure to blood-borne pathogens
Interaction with agitated or upset individuals
Interaction with disruptive or unruly students
Exposure to adverse weather conditions and seasonal temperature extremes
Duties may include riding in a vehicle
Duties may include telephone contact, paperwork, conferences, and virtual meetings
Most work requires normal physical attributes associated with working in a school or office.

Terms of Employment
: Per the Mansfield City Schools Board of Education. there are no benefits and the position is non-renewable at the end of the school year.
