As a Procurement Manager at Sauder you will play a pivotal role in the procurement process for maintenance, repair, and operations, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of parts/materials while maintaining the highest standards of quality. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their procurement needs, gather data to surface opportunities, and develop strategies and plans that optimize our supply chain. Additionally, you will ensure execution of operational tasks that enable procurement for your internal customers. This role offers a hybrid arrangement, with an agreed-upon portion of work time spent at our office in Archbold, Ohio.
RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as required.
- Leads a direct team of 5 buyers; builds department capability through coaching and employee development
- Oversees the daily workflow, monitors accuracy, directs work as required
- Collaborates internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide procurement support and guidance throughout the sourcing process
- Leads cross-functional teams and initiatives to drive cost savings, process efficiencies, and risk mitigation strategies
- Creates strategies and defines action plans; defines present and future supply chain requirements
- Continuously looks for new opportunities (optimize costs, quality, and supplier performance)
- Develops, maintains, and communicates supplier metrics
- Gathers, analyzes, and interprets data; uses data to present ideas, business cases, and results
- Cultivates positive relationships with suppliers; participates in issue resolution; guides team members on supplier root cause investigations and corrective actions
- Stays informed about regulatory requirements and compliance standards related to procurement activities and ensures adherence to company policies and procedures
- Stays abreast of market conditions, material availability, delivery systems, and other variables that impact our supply chain
REPORTING STRUCTURE
The Procurement Manager will report to the Director of Procurement.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering or equivalent is preferred
- 5+ years of progressive job-related experience
- Prior experience in a sourcing or supply chain role preferred
- Experience in SAP preferred, and/or other MRO software
- Experience in Microsoft Office, and proficient using Excel at an advanced level
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective leadership and influencing skills
- Demonstrated skills in project management
