Title:
Maintenance Mechanic/Set-Up

Shift:
1st Shift Monday through Friday | 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Starting Pay Range: $22.00 - $25.00/per hour

General Overview

  • Mechanical Maintenance/equipment set-up position
  • Install, power, debug and assist in process development
Production equipment includes but not limited to:
  • Sewing machines and ancillary equipment
  • Bias cutting
  • Textile forming
  • Stamping presses and associated equipment
  • Die maintenance
  • Textile trimming
  • Pneumatic, hydraulic and OBI presses
  • Hydraulic units
  • Equipment refurbishing and installation
Work Activities
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions
  • Stamping press set-up and die maintenance
  • Sewing machine maintenance and set-up
  • Inspect, operate, or test machinery or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic
  • Troubleshoot and repair standard electrical components and detect minor equipment problems and correct them before they become major issues
  • Adjust functional parts of devices or control instruments, using hand tools, levels and other appropriate tools
  • Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices
  • Diagnose mechanical/pneumatic/hydraulic/electric issues and determine how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary
  • On incoming equipment, assist in installation, review and advise on modifications that will be required for job specific operation
  • Carry out those modifications that are chosen
  • Install new equipment and understand technical manuals, read blueprints and how to purchase replacement parts necessary to make equipment repairs
  • Advise on the design of new equipment to aid in the repair or maintenance of machines, mechanical equipment, or building structures
  • Assemble, install, or repair wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment
  • Clean or lubricate shafts, bearings, gears, or other parts of machinery
  • Estimate costs to repair machinery, equipment
  • Align and balance new equipment after installation
  • Help to develop preventative maintenance program
  • Record type and cost of maintenance or repair work
  • Dismantle machines, equipment, or devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, or power tools
  • Plan and lay out repair work, using diagrams, drawings, blueprints, maintenance manuals, or schematic diagrams.
  • Set up and operate machine tools to repair or fabricate machine parts, jigs, fixtures, or tools
  • Train or manage maintenance personnel or subcontractors
  • General building maintenance duties as required
  • Operate cutting torches or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, calipers, micrometers, or other measuring instruments

Education/Experience
  • The Ideal candidate will be either a graduate of an industrial apprenticeship program or 2-year technical school with at least 3 years industrial experience
  • Minimum of 5 yrs. experience as a maintenance mechanic and or equipment set-up in an industrial in lieu of apprenticeship
