Job Description

As a Millwright/Industrial Mechanic with our company, you will become part of a team of stellar employees who are highly valued and skilled. You will get to put your technical and mathematical skills to use operating tools and machines and taking measurements according to blueprints. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures. Dismantle machinery or equipment using hammers, wrenches, crowbars, and other hand tools
  • Look at flat drawings or pictures and visualize how they would look as solid objects
  • Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy
  • Work at heights without fear
  • Use logical step-by-step procedures in work
  • Moves machinery and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks
  • Assembles and installs equipment such as shafting, conveyors and tram rails using hand tools and power tools
  • Constructs foundations for machines using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement, and steel
  • Aligns machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, lasers, and plumb bobs
  • Assembles machinery and bolts, welds, rivets, or otherwise fastens them to foundation or other structures using hand tools and power tools
  • May operate engine lathe or milling machine to grind, file, and turn machine parts to dimensional specifications
  • Required repair, and lubricate machinery and equipment
  • Select cables, ropes, chains, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves according to weight and size of load to be moved
  • Attaches loads with grappling devices such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains to crane hook
  • Sets up, braces, and rigs hoisting equipment using hand tools and power wrenches
  • May direct workers engaged in hoisting or machinery and equipment
  • Perform a variety of duties which may change often, and operate a variety of machinery
  • In addition, may perform all duties of a General Laborer, Skilled Laborer, Erector, Electrician, Plumber, Pipe Fitter, and Welder
  • Coordinate eye-hand movements
  • Climb and maintain body balance on ladders, scaffolding, or high structures; and see and hear (either natural or with correction)
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Stoop, lay, bend, or squat for long periods of time

 

Other Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for area housekeeping
  • Participate in the processes of continuous improvement
  • Promote a positive work environment in order to achieve the organization’s goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Skills, Knowledge, Ability, Education, Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED is preferred
  • Five to Eight (5-8) or more years of experience is strongly preferred
  • Ability to pass a bend test and x-ray test in a BG position using SMAW
  • Ability to read blueprint drawings is required
  • Strong math skills are required
  • Must be detail-oriented
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required
  • High level of energy and motivation
  • Ability to work flexible hours with some weekend and holiday work required
  • Must possess the ability to interact effectively with all levels of personnel, both hourly and management, in a team environment
  • Must comply with QWF core values for the safe and efficient operation of the business and maintain sound relationships among and with employees

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • A valid Driver’s License is required
  • OSHA 30 Hour or OSHA 10 Hour is preferred

 

Additional Info:

  • Full-Time, First Shift
  • Workdays: Monday through Saturday (40+ hours per week)
  • Start Time: 6:00 a.m.
