Job Description
Summary:
The Field Service Technician (FST) is accountable for hands-on tasks such as installation, commissioning, and service (scheduled or unscheduled) on commercial material handling equipment including cranes, conveyor systems, and associated structural steel. This role operates under the guidance of a senior service technician and may include shop duties. The FST is expected to maintain professionalism, prioritize safety, demonstrate technical proficiency, ensure customer satisfaction, and adhere to administrative requirements.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Role:
Demonstrate professional skills in installing, repairing, or overhauling products/systems on customer sites.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
May undertake shop duties as needed.
Technical:
Follow company product tech manuals diligently.
Undergo on-the-job training (OJT) within the first year on at least one product line and supporting systems.
Stay updated on qualifications required by the company and/or end-users.
Safety:
Operate safely according to published safety guidelines.
Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as per company guidelines.
Adhere to safety policy guidelines and report accidents or injuries promptly.
Complete annual safety training as per regional safety schedule.
Administration:
Provide accurate and timely reporting per company guidelines.
Maintain company property according to policies.
Customer Satisfaction:
Deliver high-quality workmanship.
Be responsive to customer needs and represent the company positively.
Aim for a "first-time fix" for customer equipment issues.
Maintain customer satisfaction rates as per company guidelines.
Performance:
Complete work efficiently and on time.
Adhere to company dress code and safety regulations.
Maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED.
Three to five years of construction experience.
Knowledge and experience in rigging, structural steel erection and welding.
Basic hand tools and ability to read blueprints.
Understanding of cranes and conveyors.
Mechanical aptitude.
Ability to interpret product tech manuals for troubleshooting.
Reliable team player with a professional demeanor.
Proficiency in English language (verbal and written).
Experience in industrial installation sites preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Ability to handle stressful situations.
Ability to travel up to 75%, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, and short-notice emergencies.
US citizenship required for access to restricted information.
Valid driver's license and eligibility for company credit card.
Physical Requirements:
Regularly perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, handling objects, etc.
Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required.
