The Compliance Manager is responsible for coordinating and delivering the results required for safe and quality products. The position reports to and works closely with the Director Operations and Sanitation. The person appointed will be expected to maintain and improve the safety and quality of the facility by executing a predetermined plan. Excellent communication and active listening skills are needed to be able to coordinate strategy with the rest of the management team.

 

This position is primarily scheduled during First Shift.

 

Essential Job Functions:

 

Compliance (for various inspection agencies i.e. SQF, USDA, FDA, ODA and third-party audits):

  • Implement, track and organize all compliance records
  • Maintain all documentation’s version control utilizing software such as CertDox
  • Help to facilitate third-party audits, regulatory agency visits (i.e. ODA, USDA, FDA) and customer audits
    • Accompany visitors, customers and/or inspectors during plant visits and audits; Provide feedback to leadership at the conclusion of the visits/audits
  • Provide internal and external compliance documentation requested by customers (examples include HACCP flow diagrams, food safety plans, quality analytical reports, other)
  • Internal Auditing – In support of the SQF certification, routine internal audits shall be conducted
  • Coordinate supplier approvals along with ingredient food safety risk assessments (obtain COAs, Letters of Guarantee, Letters of Conformance, etc.)

 

Quality Assurance/Compliance:

  • Coordinate Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) Initiatives
  • Coordinate/guide the team for proper collection of samples (aid and assist Quality Technicians when necessary)
    • Analytical samples (moisture, fat, salt, protein) – in house testing and/or third-party lab testing
    • Microbiological samples (APC, Coliform, E. coli, Y/M and other specific testing per customer request; all pathogen testing will be forwarded to the approved third-party lab for testing)
    • Aid and collaborate with technicians and management when there is a need for escalation of out of specification results
  • Serve as a backup to the QA Techs in their absence (i.e. reading microplates, sample preparation, gathering samples for shipping to third-party labs, etc.)

 

  • Employee Training
    • Assist, coordinate and/or conduct training for GMP, HACCP and SQF items and tracks the training status of all staff
    • Maintains and manages all training manuals and certifications for the staff
  • Food Safety is everyone’s job.
  • As part of the Minerva Dairy team you will be expected to support the operations in food safety programs such as washing your hands, wearing clean uniforms, eating in designated areas and arriving to work in good health and hygiene.

 

Required Skills:

  • Proven ability to deliver results
  • In-depth knowledge of Food Science; knowledge of the dairy industry preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability to articulate effectively; both verbal and in writing
  • Highly personable, trustworthy
  • Proficient in operating a computer and associated applications (MS Office – Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to motivate staff about the importance of food safety, people safety, quality and sanitation
  • Ability to develop and explain detailed spreadsheets and present to staff
  • Ability to perform presentations, knowledgeably answer questions and provide timely follow up
  • Strong and successful management and communication skills

 

Required Experience and Education:

  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in a lab environment
  • Successful track record of delivering results
  • Bachelor’s degree with an emphasis on Food Science and/or Management

Details: Full time. First Shift (7:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.). Monday through Friday. 36 to 48 hours/week. $70,000 to $75,000/year (based on experience).

 

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Must have at least 2 years of experience. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

 

Driver’s License Requirement(s): Must Have Valid Driver’s License.
