This is an open position with Ohio Edison Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [OEPP]

Location: Marion, OH
A. Duties
Under directive or general directive supervision, engages in any of the work of construction, maintenance, and repair on property, equipment, electrical circuits, and structures, which may be energized; responsible, at times, for a crew consisting of one other employee; performs duties such as but not limited to:
1. Installing, testing, maintaining and repairing rotating machines, circuit breakers, -transformers, capacitors, regulators, batteries, relays, meters, telemetering, supervisory control equipment, substation structures, and other related equipment in substations, power plants, or other electrical facilities.
2. Wiling energized panels with no direct supervision.
3. Setting up rigging, tackle, blocking, and scaffolding. Setting up special rigging, as directed. Moving and erecting major equipment.
4. Fabricating and erecting steel; installing insulators and busses; installing switches and other electrical apparatus.
5. Installing, splicing, and tenninating conductors and cables. Maintaining, installing, or removing equipment, in manholes and vaults. Positioning and racking cables round manholes and vaults.
6. Setting up and operating fault-locating equipment for locating faults in underground transmission and distribution cable systems and determining and making any necessary repairs.
7. Locating and laying out foundations from base lines and benchmarks.
8. Excavating, shoring, forming, pouring concrete, laying up. brick, block, and other masonry construction. Locating and laying out ground grids. Locating and laying out cable trays.
9. Inspecting substations.
10. Performing all switching operations.
11. Changing taps and lever settings on overcurrent relays and changing tripping/timing cartridges on solid state circuit breaker relaying.
13. Performing, when assigned, trouble duties such as locating, * diagnosing, and correcting troubles in circuits and equipment; reporting conditions.
14. Operating the Doble power factor test set.
15. Maintaining, repairing, or replacing equipment while working within the OSHA minimum approach distance when necessary.
16. Directing and training employees assigned to his/her work activity.
17. Performing the duties of Substation Electrician B and other duties as assigned of an equivalent or lower classification and skill level.
B. Qualifications
Must meet the Company's requirements as to General Qualifications; must have all the qualifications of Electrician-B and, in addition:
1. Must have at least two years' experience as Electrician-B, or the equivalent.
2. Must have acquired a working knowledge of applied electricity, covering AC and DC electrical circuits, and AC and DC electrical calculations, or the equivalent.
3. Must have demonstrated aptitude for and ability in the performance of the duties of Electrician-B;
4. Must have a thorough working knowledge of:
a. the function of the electrical equipment and machinery in the properties to which assigned; and
b. the maintenance, repair and construction procedures and practices of the department.
5. Must be able to work from complex drawings and circuit diagrams.
6. Must have a thorough understanding of the operation of circuits; their connections and interconnections; and
7. Must have the ability to pass on orders and instructions in a manner that will maintain harmony and safety and obtain cooperation and satisfactory work results from men assigned to the work.
