Job Description

McKesson is seeking an exceptional leader to fill the role of Senior Director, Distribution Operations in our Pharmaceutical Solutions and Services Business. The Sr. Director will be accountable for delivering world-class service to our customers through outstanding operational performance while inspiring, motivating and developing team members across their organization. The Pharma Operations team distributes lifesaving pharmaceuticals to customers throughout the United States.

This is a great opportunity to lead multiple Distribution Centers within our Distribution Operations team, which will consist of 4 Directors as direct reports along with >500 indirect reports in both management and non-management roles.

The Sr. Director, Distribution Operations will report directly to the VP, Distribution Operations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the Distribution Operations function within the 4 DC's located regionally across the US.

This role will be based within the region in which it supports. There will be travel required to each of the distribution centers as well as other internal and external locations (~25-50% travel).

Position Description

Develop a plan to support and position the business by identifying operational and site needs, working with internal partners on new business opportunities, defining/revising policies and procedures, identify system needs, and partnering with internal teams to drive operational excellence.

Partner with the VP, Distribution Operations in the development and execution of the long-term DC strategy.

Ensure distribution centers appropriately manage all aspects of their operation including the receipt, storage and accurate control of product inventory in each facility. Ensure customer orders are picked, packed and shipped according to service level requirements with a priority on order quality.

Foster an environment where outstanding safety and quality performance is an expectation of all team members.

Develop a highly engaged workforce and promote diverse and inclusive mindsets.

Assess, manage, and mitigate risk across the operation and align w/ broader PSAS requirements (legal, quality assurance, compliance, etc...).

Support business continuity planning, preparation, and execution.

Evaluate and improve upon current procedures and practices to support operational and financial objectives.

Provide work direction, resolve problems, and manage deadlines to ensure timely completion of work across Specialty network.

Monitor productivity, overtime and attrition to ensure stability of the workforce

Manage annual operating expense plan

Manage budgetary and/or profit and loss (P&L) responsibilities to ensure effective financial oversight and strategic resource allocation.

Minimum Requirements

Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 13+ years of professional experience and 6+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience).

Must be able to obtain Certified Designated Representative (CDR) certification(s) and/or meet state Board of Pharmacy requirements for a facility designated representative.

Proven leadership skills, with the ability to build, motivate and influence cohesive teams

Distribution / operational leadership experience with a strong track record of achieving excellent results in safety, quality and productivity

Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate across multiple functions and levels of an organization

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Skills

Ability to engage workforce and mentor leadership team

Exceptional relationship building skills with strong ability to influence others

Healthcare distribution operations experience a plus

Experience with automation and technical aptitude for ad hoc problem resolution

Experience with SAP-ERP, WMS, and/or Accumax WMS.

Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment

Ability to take initiative and perform under pressure

Strong analytical skills, with an ability to process data and leverage it to influence critical business decisions and priorities

As part of Total Rewards, we are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson. This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. In addition to base pay, other compensation, such as an annual bonus or long-term incentive opportunities may be offered.

Our Base Pay Range for this position

$146,000 - $243,400
