This role is part of the WatchDesk which is a team of full-time analysts and economists that specializes in secondary data collection by monitoring hundreds of sources to provide unprecedented context and insights for our clients. A plus for this role is having experience or familiarity with agriculture and the food system.

We have a Work from Anywhere environment so working remotely and/or from our Columbus or Cincinnati office is an option. This position is not eligible for a US visa or employment sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Acumen - thoroughly understands how a business functions and knows first-hand what critical information is needed to make key decisions.
  • Cognitive Skills - can consume and process large amounts of information. Think through complex problems and scenarios.
  • Intelligence Interpretation- Investigate and synthesize large amounts of qualitative and quantitative data to test hypotheses and develop compelling, concise deliverables.
  • Intelligence Reporting & Delivery - Be able to connect the findings to business actions and outcomes. Tell clear and concise stories on what the intel means for their businesses. Writing proficiency is critical.
  • Communication - Regularly interact with clients to understand and document their business and intelligence objectives and provide regular updates to them on new intel developments. Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Collaboration - Engage daily with teammates to report and synthesize intelligence and develop deliverables.

Skills Needed:

  • Minimum of 8 years in general professional experience successfully consulting with stakeholders, developing intel and briefing decision makers. Also, a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in intelligence, agriculture and the food system OR bachelor's degree in economics, business, finance, agri-business, or another agri-food related field.
  • Innate ability to think through complex problems and is naturally curious, inquisitive and a self-starter.
  • Proven business acumen, client management skills, and deep knowledge of using multiple information streams in decision-making are essential.
  • Strong analytic skills with the ability to contextualize and synthesize information into compelling, actionable findings/reports.
  • Ability to integrate observations on news, current events, or trends in the United States and around the world with primary and secondary intel findings.
  • Exceptional storytelling skills with extensive experience writing reports, developing presentations, and briefing senior leaders.
  • Must have meticulous attention to detail and the ability to work independently to generate high-quality, stand-alone work.
  • Strong mathematical and computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
