Description

Position Summary

Organizes and conducts Physical Therapy program to facilitate the rehabilitation of people with physical and/or psychosocial disabilities. The Physical Therapist directs the patient's participation in selected activities/treatments to restore, re-enforce and correct pathology to promote and/or maintain good health.

Essential Functions


Performs evaluation(s) and develops an effective treatment plan appropriate to a patient's rehabilitation needs within the care continuum.
Performs effective treatment techniques in a competent manner.
Educates patient/family/caregiver in applicable health information, treatment and prevention.
Initiates and participates in the discharge planning process.
Performs other department activities such as, but not limited to documentation, billing, support of department operations, etc.
Direct patient care will be 30 hours/week; additional time will be dedicated to:
Co-treating patients 1:1 with Mentor(s)
Develop a research product to be presented at a local, state, or national setting
Participate in monthly education lectures, including pre and post-testing and mid-term and final exams
Participate in education through DPT Program by acting as lab and classroom assistant
Develop teaching skills to provide special lecture to PT Students
Provide mentorship to fellow residents, including future class

Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
