Responsibilities and Essential Functions:


Superintendent

 

Servesastheelementary school's head administrator and instructionalleader.Promotes an effective learning environment. Encourages program innovations. Promotes close working relationships with parents, students, and staff. Keeps the superintendent informed about emerging issues.

 

ValidOhioprincipal'slicenseappropriatefortheassignment.

Meetsallmandated health requirements (e.g., anegativetuberculosistest,etc.). Documentationof a clear criminal record.

Meetsallprerequisitequalificationstobe bonded.

 

Experience with Amplify, ELA Curriculum and Bridges Math Curriculum Understanding ofeffectiveInterventions thatcompliment structured literacy suchas 95% Intervention Kits.

 

 

Thefollowing dutiesarerepresentativeof performance expectations. Areasonable accommodationmay bemade toenable aqualifiedindividual with a disability to perform essential functions.

 

Directs the delivery and continuous improvementofeducational programs to achieve thedistrict's written, implemented, and assessed curricula and mandated proficiencies. Participates as an active member of thedistrict's management team.

Upholdsboardpoliciesandfollowsadministrativeprocedures.

Maintainsvisibility withinthebuilding and atschoolfunctions. Promotes afavorable image of the school district. Builds communitypartnerships that enhance district programs and services.

Helpsdevelopandimplementthedistrict'scontinuousimprovementplan.

Providesstaffleadership. Develops action plans.Helpsresolve problems. Maintains open and effective communications with staff and the community.

Administers the board-approvedbudgetforassigned areas ofresponsibility.Ensures that collection/dispersal procedures are properly documented.

Develops amaster schedule. Providesforclassroom coverage duringteacher absences. Prepares and distributes a school calendar. Observes established school hours.

Overseesthescheduling and evaluation ofschool events and extracurricularactivities. Upholds applicable Ohio Revised Codes and board policies (e.g., age, immunization, attendance, residency, guardianship, classification,promotion, retention, testing,etc.). Uses enrollment and withdrawal procedures.

Keeps current with theK-12 courses ofstudy, thedistrict's scopeand sequence framework, and state standards/guidelines.

Promotes thecontinuity oftheinstructionalprogram.Provides insights aboutthe progression of student skills and key contributions made by staff at each level.

Overseesproficiency andalternativetesting programs. Analyzestestresults.Provides staff direction for instructional modifications and interventions that enhance student learning and improve test performance.

Encourages staff to develop and implement innovative instructional strategies. Supports IAT processestohelpstaff resolve problems that impede student learning. Supports afull range ofeducational options. Complies withstatemodel policiesand procedures for the education of student identified as having a disability.

Maintains high standards andupholdsthestudentconductcode.Helpsteachersand administrators with discipline and pupil management issues. Administers student discipline procedures (e.g., recommendations,hearings, appeals, etc.).

Oversees the revision and distribution of student/parent and teacher handbooks. Implements safety procedurestoprotectschool property andhelpensurethehealthand well being of students, staff, and visitors.

Provides staffsupervision forstudent activities(e.g.,arrivals/departures,parking lots, lunch periods, hall duty, extracurricular programs, etc.).

Oversees procedures to ensure that all medicines are stored and dispensed safely. Updates emergency preparedness plans (e.g., fire drills, tornado drills, safety procedures, etc.). Responds to building emergencies to ensure staff/student safety. Maintainseffective relationships withcommunityagencies(e.g.,courtsystems, law enforcement, health care facilities, child welfare services, etc.).

Participatesinstaffselectionand orientationprocesses.

Expresses highexpectations andmonitorsstaffperformance (e.g.,observations, review oflesson plans,individual conferences, staffmeetings,etc.).Provides opportunities for staff to develop new skills.

Overseesthetimely submission ofreports,records,and inventories.Maintainsdistrict records for the maximumperiod mandated by law and/or board policy.

Assistswiththecollection andverificationofeducationalmanagement information and student data in cooperation with the EMIS coordinator.

Promotes the effective use of available technology in records management and instructional activities. Upholds computer technology acceptable use policies. Respects personal privacy.Maintainstheconfidentialityofprivileged information. Reports evidence of suspected child abuse as required by law.

Encourages parentorganizations.Supports and participates inschool andstudent activities as time permits.

Supports appropriate researchand pilotprojects.Identifiesand recommends funding oppo1tunities. Helps prepare grant and foundation proposals.

Participates innational,state,and/or regional activitiesthatadvancedistrictgoals. Paiticipates in professional growth opportunities.
