Job Description

POSITION OBJECTIVE

The Manager for Greek Leadership assumes primary responsibility for the advisement of the two Greek governing boards and their officers. The position works closely with the Greek Life Staff in all aspects of implementing the Greek Life program for the Case Western Reserve University Greek community of approximately 1,300 students in 26 chapters. The manager is responsible for planning and implementing on-going training of the Interfraternity Congress (IFC) and Panhellenic Council (PHC) officers and delegates, the council budgets, and the majority of the Greek community wide programs. This position is directly responsible for supervising two student staff members.

As a student affairs professional at Case Western Reserve University, this position will be expected to contribute to building a welcoming and inclusive community, focus on the well-being of others, and encourage curiosity among those we serve.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Provide leadership, direction, and advising to the Interfraternity Congress and Panhellenic Council Executive Boards. Define and assign individual tasks, maintain schedules and standards. Provide council officer training and transition support, including best practices related to each position. Advise the IFC and PHC boards in developing creative and educational programs, and track their progress to completion, including the keeping of accurate attendance records for all events. Work with the boards to facilitate structure-wide onboarding, goal setting and communication. Oversee the IFC and Panhellenic Council budgeting process and reconciliation for a budget of over $80,000 and maintain current financial transactions within PeopleSoft system. (40%)
  2. Assume primary responsibility for Panhellenic recruitment. Advise the recruitment team including the Vice President of Recruitment for Panhellenic Council, Rho Gamma Coordinator, and Assistant Vice President of Recruitment; plan pre-recruitment events; oversee registration, room reservations, and matching; advise Rho Gamma selection and training; develop all curriculums for activities related to sorority recruitment for chapter members. (10%)
  3. Assume primary responsibility for implementing Greek community leadership programming. Develop and teach leadership curriculum and education programs for all individuals within the Greek community; curriculum development and execution of The Academy, second year Greek leadership retreat; ensure that Greek students are attending UIFI, LeaderShape, and International Organization leadership opportunities; and advise chapters in developing Membership Development plans that fit their specific needs. (10%)

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Oversee all marketing initiatives for the Greek Life program including website, social media and annual report. (5%)
  2. Serve as primary advisor for the Greek academic honorary, Gamma Sigma Alpha, operations, member selection, and program development. (5%)
  3. Directly select, train and supervise two student staff members, the Greek Community Educational Consultants (GCEC’s). (5%)
  4. Coordinate all Greek recognition ceremonies, including but not limited to, Greek Awards, Citizenship Reception, and Scholarship Reception. (5%)
  5. Collaborate with the Division of Student Affairs on various projects and program development for Greek students. (5%)
  6. Serve on university committees and meetings that are important to the Greek community, including but not limited to Orientation Committee and Homecoming Committee. (5%)
  7. Represent Case Western Reserve University to area colleges and universities through participation in local, regional, and national organizations and conferences. (5%)
  8. Perform other duties as assigned. (5%)

 

CONTACTS

Department: Continuous contact with all departmental staff for the purpose of executing the office mission.

University: Moderate contact with Housing, Student Activities and Leadership, Undergraduate Studies, Educational Services for Students, New Student and Family Programs, International Student Services, Inamori Center, Office of Multicultural Affairs, LGBT Center, Career Center and Flora Stone Mather Center for Woman for the purpose of collaboration on student programs and supporting students.

External: Occasional contact with parents, alumni, outside vendors and services, and with members of regional and national professional organizations for the purpose of supporting chapters and students.

Students: Continuous interaction with student employees and undergraduate residential students, Interfraternity Congress, Panhellenic Council, chapter officers and members for the purpose of providing a developmental experience for all Greek students.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

No staff supervision. Direct supervision for two undergraduate students (GCEC’s).

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in higher education or equivalent work experience in related field required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate discipline, ideally student development, higher education administration or counseling required. Master’s degree preferred.

  5. Ability to meet consistent attendance.
  6. Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisors and customers face to face.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

General office conditions with some moving and lifting. Weekend and evening hours are required.
