Job Description

DUTIES: Prepare criteria, computation / analyses, specifications, drawings, cost estimates, and technical reports for process systems and facility HVAC/plumbing system designs. Perform HVAC heating and cooling load calcs; pressure drop calculations for ductwork and piping systems; modeling of systems using 3d design software; selection of HVAC and utility equipment; apply building codes; draft engineering reports. Select and apply engineering techniques and procedures to analyze and evaluate specific problems, data, or other features of the work which are broad in scope and complexity. Provide technical quality reviews and ensure adherence to quality control processes, codes and standards. Assist designers and drafters engaged in the design of facility mechanical systems, to ensure the designs conform to recognized codes and standards and with customer requirements. Coordinate work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead.

 

Telecommuting allowed.

 

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or closely related filed and 60 months of work experience in the job offered or related occupation. As an alternative, employer will accept a master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or closely related filed and 36 months of work experience in the job offered or related occupation.

 

SPECIFIC SKILLS:

Expertise/ knowledge of: HVAC, Utilities, and Plumbing systems. Engineering Calculations including: Heating and Cooling Load Calculations, Room Air Balance Calculations, Storm Drain Sizing, Pipe and Ductwork Sizing, and Static Pressure Calculations. Equipment Selection including: Air Diffusers, VAV Terminals, Plumbing Fixtures, Reheat Coils, Pumps, and other similar equipment. Technical Writing. AutoCAD or Revit experience working on flow diagrams and floor plan drawings. Building Codes. Field/site investigation processes.

Must have Professional Engineers (PE) license.
