Job Description
The Position:
This position reports to The Genie Company President and will act as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) for a high volume, consumer products division. The CTO will serve as a key member of Genie's Executive Leadership Team as a trusted strategist and technology manager and will have direct leadership over our Engineering and Operations teams resulting in the delivery of low cost, high-quality, innovative products. The CTO will drive all executive decisions with regards to the technological interests of The Genie Company and be responsible for outlining the company's technological vision, implementing corporate and technology strategies, and ensuring that the engineering and technological resources are aligned with the company's business needs.
Skills/Experience Requirements
10 to 15 years' previous engineering management experience (manufacturing environment experience a plus).
Strong background with electronics, IoT, connected, and cloud infrastructure & development.
Must have a proven track record of transforming strategy into an actionable plan that delivers measurable business results.
Strong personal presence, self-confidence, and infectious sense of urgency.
Knowledge and practical experience in management information systems, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, budget control, sales & marketing, and legal issues related to product liability and intellectual property.
Demonstrated ability to lead and communicate with people all at levels of the organization.
Extremely comfortable in marketing the technology of our products through customer interaction and engagement.
Ability to inspire and develop team members; creating a great work environment where the best come to work and stay.
Education Requirements
BSEE preferred. MBA is highly desirable.
Six-Sigma black belt certification and experience with lean manufacturing processes, preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Working with the leadership team, the CTO will define and implement the technology strategies across our award-winning products to ensure that the teams, technology, and systems are able to meet and exceed customer expectations.
Lead NPD, Sustaining, and IoT / Cloud / Connected engineering teams in developing the product roadmap, ultimately producing innovative consumer electromechanical products that will drive market growth, cost reductions and / or quality improvements.
Lead Innovation Engineering team that will research and develop new products and technologies that will increase our company's competitive advantage, develop strategic partnerships, and leverage the technologies across the Overhead Door Corporation platform.
Manage business patent / intellectual property portfolio across residential, commercial, accessory, and connected products.
Establish and maintain University relationships to support innovative research and development projects and programs (The Ohio University, University of Texas, and other University / Research partners).
Ensure product designs are compliant with the requirements of applicable governing agencies (i.e., FCC and UL). Direct and maintain compliance certifications of corporate verification and validation center (R&D center).
Monitor, track and proactively coordinate the progress of all new product developments paying special attention to on-time delivery and attainment of ROI objectives for each project.
Work closely with Product Management / Marketing to support product specification development and monitor the attainment of those specifications throughout the entire product life cycle.
Establish department goals and organize team to accomplish results within budget and on schedule.
Lead manufacturing / operations across multiple sites; both domestic and international ensuring that safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, waste control, and maintenance KPI's are met.
Ensure that the manufacturing / operation teams provide its internal and external customers with products and services that meet or exceed established customer requirements.
Act as a strategic change agent developing and executing an engineering and manufacturing strategy which delivers high-quality products, while integrating industry leading innovation.
