Summary
Reporting to the Assistant Vice President for Advancement Services, The Director is responsible to develop a good understanding of Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Voluntary Support of Education Survey (VSE), state and federal guidelines and legislation, and industry best practices in Advancement Services The Director will work to ensure information is accurately and efficiently maintained within Advancement's fundraising database of record, Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT, while also expanding the scope of information recorded in the system to expand relationships between BGSU and its constituents. The Director is responsible to provide and oversee the tools and training of all University Advancement constituent management systems including, but not limited to, Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT and Blackbaud NetCommunity, to ensure the University Advancement team and other university partners have access to accurate information that improves their decision-making abilities. The Director must have a good understanding of Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), Voluntary Support of Education Survey (VSE), state and federal guidelines and legislation, and industry best practices in Advancement Services.
Essential Functions
• Provide oversight and direction for the University Advancement (UA) Information Services and UA Records Management staff. Supervises, guides, and directs staff on ongoing responsibilities, projects and customer relations. Provides coaching, training and staff development. Ensures the highest level of customer relations and support for the advancement team, university colleagues and constituent stakeholders. Set metrics for the team and report on those metrics to management.
• Manage business analysis and data reporting standards, quality assurance, user access to advancement systems, and end-user support that ensures timely intake and delivery of report requests. Increase and enhance UA business intelligence capabilities utilizing Microsoft's Power BI, including but not limited to: oversee creation of new reports and dashboards that provide information access to UA staff and university partners that supports their responsibilities and increases effectiveness; and regularly audit and validate existing reports to ensure accuracy of the delivered information.
• Manage the procedures, standards and maintenance schedules for biographic updates including, but not limited to, name and contact, employment, relationship, volunteerism, appeal records, and event registration and attendance information. With the Assistant Vice President for Advancement Services (AVP), establish priorities for workflow and special projects. Create, update, and maintain business process documentation related to advancement systems and data.
• Create, maintain, and provide training opportunities for UA staff, and other system users, on all advancement technology tools, systems and business processes to ensure accurate and appropriate usage of advancement systems.
• Partner with other UA staff to identify and implement new technology tools that increase constituent engagement and philanthropy, in an effective and efficient manner. In conjunction with other campus offices, ensure timely and consistent flow of constituent data between the UA systems and other campus systems.
• Regularly audit UA data security measures and processes to ensure the security of constituent data information.
• Oversee audio/visual equipment and use in Mileti Alumni Center, including staff support for meetings and building use by internal and external constituents.

Minimum Qualifications
The following Degree is required:
• Bachelor's degree. Degree must be conferred at time of application.
The following Experience is required:
• 5 years of progressively responsible database management, programming, report writing, and/or analytics experience .
• 3 years' experience working with CRM and reporting systems.
• 3 years' experience ensuring data quality.
• 1 year of supervisory experience.
The following Experience is preferred:
• 1 year of management experience
• Experience in higher education development/advancement
• Experience working with Raiser's Edge NXT and PowerBI or similar
Additional Information
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Experience with the standards and regulations governing donor records, data privacy and security
• Knowledge of CASE standards and Advancement Services best practices
• Experience in developing and implementing training opportunities for non-advancement services staff members
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication; demonstrated skill in presenting complex information to groups and individuals in an effective and understandable manner
• Ability to interpret customer requests, understand what they need and why, and design and deliver effective solutions
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with competing deadlines
• Demonstrated skills in continuous process improvement
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
• Experience working in a fundraising environment with a strong understanding of fundraising operations
• Experience working with importing/exporting large datasets
• Experience in supervising or collaborating with both technical and non-technical peers
• Knowledge of IT systems fundamentals and audit reporting, as well as diagnosis and resolution of problems associated with advancement database integrity and reporting
• Knowledgeable in implementation of electronic screening and segmenting initiative results, as well as data formatting and migration in a network environment
