Job Description
Minimum Qualifications:
• Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner with prescriptive authority to practice nursing in the State of Ohio and Board certified by AANP, ANCC, or AACN in Family Practice or Women’s Health.
• Knowledge of and ability to conduct services following recognized standards of care for advanced practice nursing in accordance with the most current rules adopted by the Board of Nursing for Advance Practice Registered Nurses (APRN).
• Experience working with culturally and economically diverse populations, including all genders and ethnicities; gay/bisexual/transgender populations, and people living with chronic disease, substance users and persons with mental diagnosis. Familiarity with public health program implementation and evaluations.
• Minimum of 1-year clinical experience in a gynecological service and Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) treatment and prevention.
• Current CPR certification.
• Current valid Driver’s License with driving privileges in the State of Ohio, reliable transportation, and auto insurance.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office and use an electronic health record.
• Required to play an active role during a public health emergency, crisis, outbreaks, incident, or event in which the Health Commissioner deems additional changes in responsibilities and working locations/hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in Women’s Health or Family Practice
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
• Outreach and field management of sexually transmitted infections, including a focus on HIV, syphilis, and Hepatitis C within the jurisdiction of Region 9, as defined by the Ohio Department of Health (ODH). In addition, this position may provide occasional coverage and support under the scope of practice of an APRRN assigned to the onsite clinic.
• Provide service under a Standard Care Agreement with the Public Health collaborating physician. Informs collaborating physician of patient problems, adverse effects of care, and other concerns.
• Conduct interviews with patients including a comprehensive sexual history and partner elicitation.
• Notify elicited partners of exposure and provide partner education, testing, and treatment options.
• Promote prevention of HIV and STI’s including PrEP and safer sex practices.
• Refer for evaluation and treatment of substance use disorders when identified.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Conduct physical examinations and testing for sexually transmitted infections. Collect human biological specimens as needed for testing and treatment and transport specimens to the Health Department.
• Diagnose, prescribe, and administer medications as appropriate, including IM injections in the field and at Public Health.
• Provide linkage to care services for all clients living with HIV, including referral for medical care; connect uninsured and underinsured clients with agencies to address social determinants of health, such as housing and social support.
• Provide education to individuals regarding their diagnosis via phone, office, mail, or field visit.
• Participate in review of patient care and progress as a member of the DIS and Health Service team.
• Work to achieve all performance measures for HIV, STI and PHDMC as established by ODH.
• Attend appropriate trainings, as recommended by ODH, to ensure motivational interviewing and all partner services skills are appropriate and current. Follows all CDC quality Assurance Standards for Passport to Partner Services.
• Participate in committees and task force as requested. (Such as the Congenital Syphilis Review Board).
• Consult with community providers regarding positive HIV and syphilis laboratory results and arrange for treatment. Duties may include the transportation of medication to providers offices within Region 9 or arranging for transport of persons to the Public Health Clinic.
• Determine when consultation by a specialist is necessary and refer patients as needed.
• Access an input patient medical information into an electronic medical record system.
• Enter all casework, communications, and findings into ODRS as required Complete reports and other summaries as requested.
• Coordinate and/or supervise activities of the health care team and/or students in the field or clinic setting.
• Must comply with all required ODM credentialing verification standards and maintain provider eligibility for clinical care participation in Medicare/Medicaid
