Myers Industries, Inc. (NYSE: MYE) is a leading manufacturer of a wide range of polymer products for industrial, agricultural, automotive, commercial and consumer markets. We are also the largest distributor of tools, equipment and supplies for the tire, wheel, and under- vehicle service industry in the United States. Myers Industries was started in 1933, by Meyer and Louis Myers, as a tire supply storefront in Akron, Ohio. In 1946, the Company began manufacturing plastic and rubber products related to the tire industry for distribution. In 1963, Myers Industries, Inc. was established and grew into a diversified plastics manufacturer and tire repair supply distributor. Since then, Myers Industries has expanded to become a leading polymer manufacturer of material handling containers and distributor of tire repair and retread products for both domestic and international markets.
Job Overview
The TS&D Manager is a key member of the Buckhorn customer-facing technical team. They work closely with marketing managers and salespeople and provide an important technical and solution development link between current and potential customers and Buckhorn products and solutions. The application engineer's primary focus is to strengthen the sales and conversion process through opportunity identification, needs assessment, technical consultation, and solution development.
Duties and Responsibilities
Subject Matter Expertise
Develop an advanced working knowledge of key targeted applications, technical considerations, market trends and alternative solutions in the context of customer operational and business strategies.
Develop and maintain thought leadership on new application developments, technologies, and competition.
Work closely with cross-functional project teams both inside and outside Buckhorn to develop win-win solutions.
Needs Assessment
Perform application audits and provide technical guidance and leadership in determining specific needs / issues where Buckhorn can provide measurable value for the customer.
Lead efforts in translating customer/market needs into defined projects and/or technical specifications.
Opportunity Identification
Identify opportunities for product and service improvements that will provide value to customers based on market trends and common industry problems, new technologies, regulations, etc.
Conduct SWOT and competitive analysis with Market Managers and Sales to target unmet needs in the marketplace.
Perform analyses of product cost/benefit; identify financial investment and technical justification.
Technical Consultation and Solution Development
Develop accurate and actionable business case proposals for both the customer and for Buckhorn.
Lead data gathering, interpretation and education efforts, including utilizing industry standard techniques and developing creative methodologies to collect management decision level data.
Collaborate with customers and internal stakeholders to identify, develop, and commercialize product improvements and potential new products.
Develop and maintain a strong understanding of legal, regulatory and certification requirements, particularly food safety, rail certification and material data.
Collaborate with internal and external cross-functional teams to develop and deliver compelling value propositions for container conversions and process improvements.
Project Management
Ability to manage multiple priorities from a diverse customer base.
Project management experience in a technical or manufacturing environment
Strong organizational and project management skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Excellent written and verbal communication

Able to prioritize and juggle multiple projects and deadlines.
Financial acumen and working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Education and Experience
Technical, Engineering and/or Business degree required.
Five plus yrs. of product development and manufacturing experience preferred.
Reusable Packaging experience - highly desirable
Customer facing engineering or solutions-based experience preferred.
Working Conditions
Typical office and industrial environments
Travel up to 60% +
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects.
The employee frequently is required to sit, stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear and will occasionally be required to bend, stoop, kneel and climb stairs.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
