OVERVIEW

UES, a BlueHalo Company has an opportunity available for a Scientist focused in Synthetic Biology and Genetic Engineering to join our team working within the 711th Human Performance Wing of Air Force Research Laboratories at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, OH. The Scientist will engineer cells as a strategy to enhance performance.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The project will involve designing and engineering microbes to perform new functions and assaying how these microbes alter the behavior of the host, such as enhanced wakefulness, cognitive function, or stress resilience. A successful candidate will work independently and in collaboration to develop and implement synthetic biology tools, including protein engineering, metabolic and microorganism engineering, and genetic circuit design, to establish new microbiome communities with improved performance and novel functions

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU WILL BRING

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in genetic engineering, synthetic biology, microbiome science and animal behavior studies as demonstrated through presentations and publications
  • Demonstrate initiative and pursuit of successful collaborative research projects with interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • This position is working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship
