Position Summary Information

 

Summary

Part-time research assistant position. Reports to assigned Principal Investigator. Responsibilities include assisting with scientific experiments, including tissue processing, fluorescence microscopy and data documentation under general supervision.

Pay Grade: 4

Starting Hourly Rate Range: $14.50 – $16.91, commensurate with experience

Location: Rootstown, OH

Principal Functional Responsibilities

1) fluorescence microscopy and data analysis

2) process neural tissue for immunohistochemistry and histology

3) assist with surgical procedures

4) perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications

Education/Degrees:

• B.S. or B.A. in Biology or related field.

 

Experience:

• At least 2 years of research experience, including

• immunochemistry

• fluorescence microscopy

• small animal surgery

 

Key Skills, Personal Characteristics, and Key Competencies

• General laboratory experience

• Experience with tissue processing and either histochemistry or immunohistochemistry

• Can follow directions well

• Excellent organization skills

• Technical dexterity

• Good written and oral communication skills

• Attention to detail/Excellent observational skills

• Being very punctual

 

Physical Requirements

Must be able to utilize a phone, computer and screen and other office equipment. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear and occasionally stand, walk, reach, stoop, or kneel. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
