HX5 is currently seeking a Preventative Maintenance Technician to join our team at the Wright Patterson Air Force Bases Wind Tunnel Testing Facility (AFRL/RQVX).AFRL/RQVX primarily provides wind tunnel testing and experiments to satisfy the requirements of researchers within the DoD as well as from industry. The testing facility consists of a full spectrum of wind tunnel types and sizes that all require complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and high-pressure systems to generate the various air speeds involved in the research.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities


The Preventative Maintenance Team is required to inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical equipment.
Must be proficient in multiple skill areas to include various types of mechanical systems, maintenance activities, and light fabrication.
This person will perform medium to high-level machine systems troubleshooting and repair as well as provide technical support for all phases of wind tunnel operation.
Sample systems and hardware include, but are not limited to:

Unique mechanical systems for wind tunnels and their related support equipment
Large electrical motors and AC/DC generators.
Various sized air compressors (screw or piston) with pressure ratings from 0-3000 psi
Air dryers, both low and high pressure and high pressure
Pressure vessels
Lifting devices such as overhead cranes, forklift trucks, and man lifts
Oil pumps, water pumps, hydraulic pumps, and related control systems
Cooling towers and systems
High pressure air systems
Vacuum systems
Electric and hydraulic actuators

Competencies


Successful candidate will demonstrate broad skills in an industrial/maintenance environment where duties change on a daily basis and often include activities that are highly customized and take an innovative approach.
General knowledge areas include, but are not limited to: mechanical, plumbing, electrical, hydraulic, cooling, and high pressure systems.

Education and/or Experience


High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
At least 10 years of related experience and/or training preferred in an industrial mechanical maintenance or manufacturing environment
Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or Associate Degree from a technical maintenance or vocational school, a plus but not required
Experience with HAZMAT duties is highly desired

Other Position Requirements


Must be a US Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance by start date.
Must be willing to travel. (This includes air-travel)
