Description
The Systems Administrator's role is to optimize servers, networks and related components to achieve high availability and performance of the various business applications supported. This includes designing, installing, configuring, administering, securing and fine-tuning various operating systems (Windows, Linux, iSeries, VMware, Nutanix, etc.) and components across the organization in a timely and efficient manner. Will be involved in documenting processes, working with IT compliance controls; recommending, monitoring and reporting on key IT operational data; ensuring proper backup and recovery methods for network components; coordinating and executing test to validate solutions; and working with technical and business members to provide an efficient approach to enhancing performance of network and user experience. This position reports to the IT Manager of Systems Administration.

Responsibilities:


Lead, coordinate, and participate in key process improvements for all environments throughout the organization.
Participate in the design and review of new systems and application deployments.
Coordinate business application, and database administration functions to ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of systems to meet corporate objectives.
Perform file system and database configuration and management.
Support application development teams throughout project lifecycles.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems, including end user desktop PCs and enterprise data servers.
Ensure servers comply with established policies, standards, licensing agreements, and configuration guidelines.
Coordinate defining and performing system backups and recovery procedures to ensure full data retrieval.
Monitor and test system performance; provide statistics and reports.
Define and implement strategies for integrating Windows and Linux operating environments.
Recommend and execute modifications to systems in order to improve security, efficiency, reliability, and performance.
Establish and implement policies, procedures, and technologies (including firewalls) to ensure system security.
Review and deploy new service packs, hot fixes, system updates, and vendor-supplied patches according to best practices.

What you need:


Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Technology or equivalent experience
Experience with Active Directory and VMWare infrastructure configuration
Excellent planning and organizational skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Preferred experience:


Experience with Nutanix hosts and Acropolis VM management a plus
Experience with LINUX a plus
Experience with the basics of Oracle Database a plus
Experience with Veeam Backup, Replications and Orchestrator a plus
Experience with data extraction and reporting tools a plus
Experience with Office 365 a plus
