Role Description:

Arcadis is seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Resilience Water team. Although this is a remote position, occasional travel to our Columbus, Ohio office will be necessary.

This role sits within our Resilience Global Business Area. We work to protect our natural environment and water resources while powering our world for future generations. Around the world, we're feeling the effects of climate change, rapid urbanization, loss of biodiversity. The rate at which we're seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent. Role Accountabilities:

In this role, you will focus on projects related to the design and construction of water and wastewater engineering, including upgrades to treatment plants, development of storage facilities, stormwater management systems, pump stations, and distribution or collection systems. Your duties will involve creating design calculations, drafting technical reports, preparing permitting documentation, and developing comprehensive engineering plans and specifications. Other tasks include:
  • Organizing and conducting structural-related engineering investigations and planning activities
  • Developing engineering and construction drawings, specifications, bid packages, and cost estimates.
  • Engaging directly with various engineering disciplines, project personnel, clients, and subcontractors throughout project lifecycles.
  • Collaborating effectively in team settings, fostering strong relationships with other teams involved in client projects.
  • Researching feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Traveling (up to 25%) to support project requirements.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural, Civil Engineering or a related field of study
  • 5 years of experience
  • EIT certification

Key Skills and Attributes:
  • Strong structural analysis and design skills
  • Experience in utilizing STAAD Pro and other structural software
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Skills to include; public speaking, ability to work as part of a team, preparation and development of technical documents, prior client involvement and/or relationship skills as part of the project team
  • Experience preparing, reviewing and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates
  • Functional knowledge and experience with AutoCAD/REVIT software
  • Functional experience with MS Office applications
  • Excellent working knowledge of all building codes and standards such as IBC, ACI, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional/Structural Engineer License
  • Experience with structural engineering related to a variety of W/WW industry
