The Vice President, ESG & Corporate Responsibility is a senior leadership role with responsibility for crafting the overall ESG strategy and building out the workstream verticals from the ground up for Phillips Edison & Company (PECO). This role will also work across the organization to measure and communicate the impact of PECOs broader ESG program. This is a highly cross-functional position that will collaborate with a team of PECO partners through vision-setting, strategy development, implementation, and reporting.



Key Responsibilities



    • Strategy and Performance: Work closely with the General Counsel and key internal executives to further the development of PECOs long-term ESG strategy. This includes public commitments to relevant standards, development of science-based targets, and implementation plans and timelines. Work across a diverse group of partners (including Investor Relations, Legal, Finance, Property Management, HR, and Operations) to support programs and priorities around material ESG issues for PECO. Own the development, preparation, execution and evaluation of materiality assessments at PECO.

    • Measurement, Evaluation and Reporting: Apply relevant standards and frameworks (e.g. SASB, TCFD, GRI) to PECOs ESG efforts. Use data, benchmarks, and insights from evolving ESG standards to evaluate PECOs performance. Own reporting and tracking for ESG metrics across Elastic. Be responsible for annual disclosures of PECOs ESG reporting. Partner with the Investor Relations, Property Management, and Finance teams to gather and verify data for investor, customer, and other external requests.

    • Operations and Cross-Functional Management: Lead PECOs cross-functional ESG steering committee and working groups; develop annual cadence for reporting and disclosures; effectively develop teams of outside partners, consultants and vendors toward outcomes and results.

    • Communications: In partnership with the Marketing and Investor Relations teams, develop and continuously refine the overall narrative for PECOs ESG efforts; represent PECO externally with relevant industry coalitions and internally toPECO associates and executives.



Specific Candidate Requirements



    • Minimum of 10+ years of corporate experience in ESG, environmental sustainability, corporate social responsibility, or related fields. Experience should include strategy development, program and project management, engaging cross-functional stakeholders, and measuring and reporting initiative results.

    • Depth of knowledge on corporate sustainability, climate change, ESG topics and current trends

    • Ownership over the creation of ESG or sustainability reports and/or proven ability to evaluate corporate performance using such reports

    • Strong project management skills with a results-drive approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines

    • Outstanding cross-functional partnership skills; ability to bring people together around a common goal and lead by influence across all levels of an organization, including executive leadership

    • Strong written and presentation skills for high-visibility storytelling, both internally and externally

    • Bachelors degree required, MBA or advanced degree preferred



Preferred Qualifications



    • ESG strategy development and execution experience within a commercial real estate organization

    • Prior experience conducting materiality assessments climate-risk assessments

    • Highly skilled in data analysis, synthesizing sophisticated inputs from multiple collaborators, and building thoughtful and efficient cross-functional processes

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with all levels of the organization and adapt communication style accordingly

    • Proven experience managing and leading a team of ESG professionals

    • Demonstrates intellectual curiosity that includes seeking new approaches and challenging the organization to higher levels of success

    • Experience with ESG data management systems

    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (primarily Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point)
