About the School of Information Technology
The School of Information Technology (SoIT) is a national leader in studying solutions and needs that connect people, information, and the technology of the time. The SoIT is home to Ohio's first Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Information Technology. In addition, it is home to Ohio's first ABET accredited Bachelor ofScience in Information Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Cybersecurity. The SoIT has been growing at 20% annually and currently serves more than 2300 students with 32 full-timefaculty members, 30 full-time staff, and 39 adjunct faculty. The SoIT is home to several centers including an NSA/DHS Center for Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense, the InformationTechnology Solutions Center, the Ohio Cyber Range Institute, Applied Machine Learning and Intelligence Center, the Civic Technologies Lab, and the newly formed Information Technology Analytics Center.

Job Overview
The Information Technology Analytics Center is seeking a diligent Postdoctoral Researcher to join a project team and curate and refine the content of a chatbot application that supports the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (ODRC). Leveraging expertise in information technology, criminal justice, or related disciplines, the successful candidate will collaborate with ODRC's stakeholders to ensure the success of the project. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess strong writing skills and experience in grant writing or seeking funds. They will be responsible for identifying potential funding sources, writing grant proposals, and managing grant applications. This aspect of the role will involve working closely with the project team to secure the necessary resources for the development and implementation of the chatbot application.
The Postdoctoral Researcher will play a pivotal role in soliciting and analyzing user feedback to enhance the functionality and usability of our chatbot. Designing mechanisms for qualitative and quantitative feedback collection, including surveys, interviews, and usability testing, will be a key responsibility. Through systematic evaluation, the Postdoctoral Researcher will identify areas for enhancement, ensuring alignment with user expectations.
Essential Functions
Gather and analyze data and develop new ideas that promote current research.
Prepare data summaries, reports, manuscripts and presentations of research results.
Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentation; may assist in grant writing.
Keep informed of developments in field to maintain and enhance professional expertise.
May teach techniques to others, train, and mentor junior research staff.
Engage in appropriate training and professional development opportunities.
Play an active role in seeking career and research advice, both from the faculty supervisor and from other faculty members as well.
Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.
Required Education
A Ph.D. in information technology, information science, criminal justice, criminology, sociology, or a related field is required. Applicants are encouraged from both Ph.D. candidates (an appointment to the position is contingent on completing all requirements for the degree by the appointment date) and scholars who have completed the Ph.D. within the past two or three years.

Required Experience
With over five years of experience in Criminal Justice, the candidate possesses a comprehensive understanding of the criminal justice system. Alongside this expertise, the candidate demonstrates significant experience in Information Technology, particularly in areas such as software development and systems engineering. This blend of knowledge equips the candidate to develop prompt and efficient solutions tailored to the unique demands of the criminal justice field.
Additional Qualifications Considered
At least one year of experience in software quality assurance, including developing and executing automated test cases across Front-End and Back-End domains.
Familiarity with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), and Bug Life Cycle.
Intermediate level knowledge of web technologies including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for UI/UX design.
Familiarity with Agile Methodology and experience working in fast-paced environments.
Ability to conduct statistical analyses and design research methodologies for evaluation purposes.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
