Job Description

Durability Performance Lab Technician

Cleavland, OH

PPG Inc. is looking for a motivated and detail oriented individual to join our Corporate Science and Technology team as part of our S&T Product Durability Testing Team! This Durability Performance Lab Technician will perform a variety of routine and non-routine technical activities in support of durability testing of development projects and production products for both domestic and global customers.

In this role you will need to be detail oriented and capable of working independently in a location not heavily traveled by other associates. You will also be part of create reports for our industrial customers that have meaningful and impactful implications on shaping how they do business and build their products.

You will work on-site and report to the Performance Testing Team Leader.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensures that proper safety attitudes, procedures and housekeeping are maintained in all work areas and conducts work in a manner that protects self, co-workers, equipment, environment and safety of the community.
  • Works independently with minimum supervision to operate, trouble shoot and perform minor repairs of weathering equipment in the Accelerated Weathering Lab (AWL).
  • Performs tests to generate and record results to provide blind test result reports to all customers internal, external, domestic and global.
  • Responsible for 5-S/Safety and Calibrations of the Accelerated Weathering Lab (AWL).
  • Processes panels going to atmospheric testing in Florida.
  • Will be cross trained to assist in Corrosion Lab as needed.
  • Work directly with a variety of internal/external customers as well as Color Portal.
  • Read and implement test methods as described in SAE's, ASTM's and customer specification.

Requirements:
  • High School Diploma OR Equivalent required.
  • Any Chemistry, Science Laboratory and Math Coursework a plus.
