Job Description

Mission

The Lab Intern will work under the supervision of the Lab Manager, focusing on testing procedures and other lab related duties.

Main Responsibilities

Learn and become proficient in ASTM/AASHTO Asphalt Binders and Emulsion tests methods and practices that are required for the project.
Calculate, record, and analyze test results obtained.
Check for quality test results and retest when necessary.
Coordinate with other employees on the use of the equipment.
Communicate test results to the Product Development Manager and Laboratory Supervisor and keep data well organized.
Ensure equipment is calibrated and standardized according to schedule.
Keep current on all safety training and follow safe work practices diligently.
Work on a special project(s) as designated.
Meet all university co-op requirements and coordinate with on-site supervisor on required activities.
Present findings to other employees at end of co-op term.

Frequently need to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with arms and hands.
Required to sit, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Employee must safely move and/or lift up to 50 pounds.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE

Working in a science or construction oriented university program
