Primary Purpose:
  • Ensure safe and orderly transportation of clients on assigned routes.
  • Operate company vehicle that transports clients.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
         High School Diploma/Equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Must be 25 years of age.
  • Ability to pass alcohol and drug tests.
  • Ability to complete required vehicle driver safety training.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of client discipline procedure.
  • Ability to manage client behavior.
Experience:
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle whether transporting people or packages.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Vehicle Operation
  • Follow the assigned route and adhere to establishedschedules.
  • Drive vehicle to and from assigned routes.
  • Check the vehicle for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notify  supervisor of needed repairs.
  • Report all accidents, vehicle damage, client injuries, and mechanical failures. Complete required reports.
  • Keep records of vehicle mileage, gas and oil consumption, and the number of passengerstransported.
  • Keep assigned vehicle clean andfueled.
Client Management
  • Supervise clients while they board and leave the vehicle and cross thestreet.
  • Maintain discipline, report client problems to appropriateDirector.
  • Keep informed of and ensure compliance with all drivingrules.
  • Instruct clients on safe riding rules andregulations.
  • Ensure the safety of all passengers.
  • Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for vehicles.
  •   Inspect Vehicle by checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, and steering to ensure vehicle can be operated safely beforedriving.
  •   Correct unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisor of any conditions that are not correctableimmediately.

Report any hazardous conditions along the route.

  • Operate two-way radio equipment to communicate with transportationoffice.
  • Work irregular hours asneeded.
  • Report any hazardous conditions along theroute.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Hours & Wage: 

  • First shift; hours worked will vary depending on the clients’ needs (Early AM to Evening).
  • 15-30 hours per week but not guaranteed.
  • $10.45 - $13.00/hour
